Viral Speak 08-24-2000
I spent the last twenty minutes just stareing at the Game Cube Direct Video Feed video that ZD had. I realized that the Pokemon, Mario, or Luigi didn't excite me at all. The two games that made me happiest were the Zelda demo and the Samus FMV. You see, since her new game is at 30%, Metroid 4 was FMV. Link and Gannon were real-time. In other words, someone was controlling them. I wish I was that person. I've always wanted to play a game where the main character is bounded by natural physics; but gets to use weapons like swords and stuff. I mean, a smooth moving character, a seamlessly smooth character with no clipping, no jagged edges, just completely manipulateable and nearly real. I see that in that demo. Ganon and Link breathe, the shadows move along with them correctly, the metal of their swords give off glints of metal. (Damn.. they're hitting those swords together REALLY hard.) And the setting appears to be around sunset inside the main eating hall of a castle. Note the table in the background? Link busted in on Ganon. Ganon appears to be his rougeish self. Albeit, amazingly smooth. His nose looks less cheesy than before and his sword.. his sword is excellent. And he's using it correctly. Even holding it the right way. It's a heavy sword. Link's is a lighter sword than Ganons. Ganon's sword is thick in the middle and sharp-edged. That seems to show that he's sharpened it manually. Ganon and Link have swords built for hacking. Not stabbing or slashing. Ganon's weapon is similar to trying to use a dull axe to break open a stump.Sharper at spots. Note how Ganon's cape moves in comparison with his body AND his shadow. The PS2 can not do that. Not without removing 75% of the textureing, or taking a small simple bmp texture and stretching it into a blocky mess to compensate for the lack of textureing. Also notice that nothing CLIPS in this picture and no blocky edges are shown. Everything is light-sourced and.. well.. you get the idea. Oh, the things chaseing Samus are "Fleas". The little brain hugging, lifer sucking parasites from Super Metroid. Why that space station is crawling with them is beyond me. That game is going to give me... dreams. Where as.. that Star Wars game.. Oh, yeah.. mmmm.. Wave Race... give me a 1080 game and a good RPG and I'll be happy Nintendo.

I'm back from Digipen's summer workshop... too cool, man.

Seriously, it's a shame you're too old to go to it, but the entire deal kicks ass. They even let you send your projects home to work on (that is, of course, if you have 3D Studio Max).

I was peeking in NST's first floor, which is actually a huge-ass storage place, and I saw PC container-like white crate boxes stacked to the ceiling everywhere - they actually blocked my vision of anything else. I personally think they were GC dev kits, but hey - I'm just Mulder. I don't know anything.

--Trust No One. Oh yeah, and watch the Lone Gunmen show. It's going to rock the house. - Spooky Mulder

Philip: Hmm... any of those boxes have a Red Triangle on the shipping logo?
This is an extremely ironic thing that Mishi and I came up with in English for some idiot review of Complex sentences. We made fun of it while probably scaring the teacher. The instructions were to fill in the blanks with a subordinate clause. Here it is:

1.The great tree surgeon eyed his latest patient/ because the tree  had worms.
2.The elm pined away/ while the surgeon sawed at it.
3.The doctor reached for his saw/ after the tree screamed.
4.The tree was losing sap quickly/ because the doctor wasn't that good.

Now finish the story by writing a complex sentence of your own. Remember, a tree's life is at stake!
5.The tree died after the surgeon sawed a little too far.

*Laughs insanely* I know. We're morbid. - Globe Flower

Philip: You should have read my old grammar books. I came up with a TON of things to freak out the teachers. What were my favorite grammar exercises? Those "Use this word in a sentence containing blah blah blah" ones. How shall I use the past participle of "touch" today?
Hey, if L*dy B* is a bad word .... THEN

LADY BA ALLL OTHER SYSTEMS = PSX/PSX2/Dreamcast - Da Goomba

Philip: System wars.. ignite!
Nintendo Game Cube...fantastic.

Hey, Phil, where do you hear your rumors?  Are they reliable?  Because now that EarthBound64 is gone, I'm eager to see if EB0/EB will come to GBA.  Acronyms are fun. - Sebulba113

Philip: Most of the rumors are reliable. I have buddies in the industry and I keep my eyes and ears open. Earthbound has taken a back burner for now; but the 64 bit incarnation is now in a reversed Mythri position. It wants a developer. It already has a publisher; but it needs a developer. I think that Hudson could do a good job with it; as could Media Factory. Brownie Brown is untested... but since the ground-work is already done -as is the script-; it wouldn't be too hard. The script is the most important part of these things. Did you know the Mythri script was done a looong time ago? The game is pretty much ready. It just needs a publisher. Some of the rumors are actual games that got "leaked". An example: "Ray-man" for GBC. We had it in our rumors special for a loong time  before the GBC came out and before it was announced. If you search through the old text based articles... you'll find an article with stars (*) over the names of a company and some games. I received an e-mail from one of the company employees mentioning the game. Then was sent a retraction notice. So I censored it up. If we break out stuff like this "**** is working on a new Game Boy Advanced game starring ****** ***** in a side-scrolling game with top-down areas and **** will incorporate excessive speech into the game" I was probably told NOT to give out details. It happens.
*shows a GBA* What's this?
It's Butt... nah... It's a rip off!

Anyone but me think that the GBA looks a little too much like an NGPC? - Orochi p_fish wonders why he is such an NGPC fan on a GB site?

Philip: Let's see.. it has two buttons on top that the NGPC doesn't have, the buttons on the unit itself are in different spots and angled differently. The GBA is thinner, and has the power switch on the bottom. The GBA has round corners on ALL ends. The NGPC has a flat head. Speakers are in different spots. Battery light is in a different spot. It has a white TFT screen instead of a grey one. The batteries go in the middle, instead of to the side. The middle of the GBA juts out, while the sides of the NGPC jut out instead. The GBA is shaped more streamlined than the box-like NGPC. The button area around the B and A buttons on the NGPC have that nasty rut. The GBA doesn't. The GBA has full neck strap notches built-in. The NGPC just has a flimsy looking Wrist Strap hole. Is there a likeness? If you want to consider that the NGPC is just a tired knock-off of the Game Gear and is ripping off the old Game and Watch case designs.. maybe. But, since the NGPC -despite being designed startingly similar- is not a Game Gear knock-off. (Game Gear lived longer and there are only so many ways to place a horizontal configuration.) Anyways, I dub thee a shubbery for today.
hey! i woke up at midnight last night (this morning?) and just wrote down this poem thats been bothering me for days ! Independence

I am the wolf
i have none, i need none
stregnth as blade, will as mail
my sole acheivement
my sole regret
i choose a differant trail

like it? - jumbo

Philip: Yes. It's cool. *ahem*
Metroid Hunter.
(Philip Wesley 1996)
Silent, a shadowy form descends. Through blood-red sights, she knows her prey. Savage and Brutal life forms that haunt her repose. A sulfurous aroma wafts the air. Cold wind and light fires across the fog-filled room. Memories flood through stifled tears. As the evil lies on the caverns floor.
It is done....
Indeed, Pokemon is no mere fad. I had to stand inline for two hours to RESERVE my copy of Pokemon Gold, and at all places, K-Mart. I shudder o think how long I9or rather, my parents) will have to wait to actually pick it up. And if evolved Foy are Foyusa, are eveolved Fay Fayusa? - Hopeless TR Fan
Philip: I reserved... ONLINE! Bwa ha ha!
What do you mean by "We eat Digimon"? Digimon is way better than the Pokemon show! And the Digimon Movie is gonna kick both Pokemon movie's butts! Just look at one of the commercials for it. 'Nuff said. - Globe Flower
Philip: Well, let's see... Digimon are tasty. Some taste like Citrus, especially Augomon. Eat one today, unless you're Mick Foley. The animation is well.. too generic. I mean, seriously. They messed up the Pokemon Movies by adding CGI where it wasn't needed. They also filled the movies up with bad puns. Oh, wait. The average Digimon show is about 40% CGI, 40% washed out colors, and 20% actual drawings. And the bad puns are out en masse like hookers at Mardi Gras. The fact that the Play Station Digimon game sucks more than umm.. Lewinskymon (It's TK's newest Digimon!) is not even an issue here. I've seen the commercials. And *gasp* color me not impressed at all. But my little sister wants to see it.. and guess who has to drive. Oh, well. They better give me a card for going to see it. To top it off. The movie is from Saban. Their last movie in the movie theatres was that second Power Rangers movie that no one cared about.
What's up with Akemi's hair in Icebox:Next? - The Heptagon
Philip: Farfetch'D got it.. soooooooooooooo wrong.
Can I touch you're Foy? - Britney Spears
Philip: I'm not Foy...
Dammit, why does Sony have to do cool things (i.e. hosting Metal Gear games) then turn around and be a frickin' corporate knob polisher (i'll let you figure that one out on your own) by doing things like boycotting napster?

P.S. Tell jazz to keep his nose out of other people's relationships.  - Cheeba_Puff

Philip:Yeah.
Hey Philip, you know that Digimon (the anime) is dubbed by Saban? Don't forget, Saban is the company that ruined Power Rangers, Dragon Ball Z, and countless other Japanese shows... *shudder* - Axem Blue
Philip: Run Digimon RUN!
whats ice stand for? Dot Matrix Gaming Ice dosent make much sense - Kokuss
Philip: Dot Matrix Gaming Is Complete Ectasy!
I can't believe I'm saying this... (being a diehard playstation fan and all, even though I love GB), but that Gamecube casing and controller really grows on you (although, I feel that the d-pad is out of location really badly).  Still, I might buy GC AND PS2, as I had always been a fan of Nintendo, and just was turned away by the N64.  If the big N can bring some solid RPG's out for both GC and GBA, I'd be in heaven, although I'll have to wait to see Square's opinion on THEIR favorite console first.  Sorry for the initial opinion of the GC, it was late and I was cranky (hahaha). - EvaRules0
Philip: The N64 had no RPGS worth while.. other than.. Orge Battle and Harvest Moon. That's one of the reasons why it didn't sell out immediately. Oh, well. The GBA though.. along with Fire Emblem, an unnamed Brownie Brown RPG, Orge Battle, Golden Sun, Napoleon, and countless RPGs for the GBC and GB... well.. the GBA is the best buy. Out of the PS2, Cube, and the GBA.. I would get the GBA. The sharper WHITE screen will even make older games look.. slightly better. The PS2 has no library right now I'm interested in. I want the PS One though. No "die-hard" fan should be without the PS One.. you should get one..
