I have been a Pokemon fan since 1999, when I first got the Blue version. It was different than anything else out there.

However, since then, the Pokemon games have only had minor tweaks. So, here's a few suggestions:

-Expandable PokeBelt. Start the game with the ability to hold only 4 Pokemon. Then expand to 6, and later 8.

-Tactical battle system. I've become a big fan of games like Fire Emblem and Gladius. I'd like to see the traditional menu command system replaced by a battle system similar to the games I just mentioned. The player would need to move his/her Pokemon to attack the opponent. Moves would vary in range, and trainers could control teams of Pokemon at the same time, instead of just one or 2.

-3 on 3, 4 on 4, and Battle Royale. The 2 on 2 battles added in Ruby/Sapphire were a good next step. Now, there needs to be a next next step. 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 are self-explanatory. Battle Royale would entail multiple trainers each entering one Pokemon in a free-for-all.

-Linking system. I'm borrowing this one from the Zelda Oracle games. Instead of multiple versions, differing only in the variety of available pokemon, I'd like to see 2-3 versions, each taking place in a different region, with the ability to take Pokemon into the next region by linking the games.

-Allied trainers. I haven't gotten through Emerald, but from what I've seen in the Player's Guide, there are a couple 2-on-2 battles with a CPU-controlled ally. This needs to be expanded.

-Wi-Fi. 'Nuff said.

Ok, so that's my two cents. Hopefully, Nintendo comes up with similar ideas, or at least tries to innovate the series for the DS titles.

Let's hope Nintendo continues to give us new reasons to catch 'em all..
