Yoshi Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Farfetch'd joshnickerson@usa.net Size: 1 Meg Save: None Released: 1992 Works with: Any Version **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: When I first saw this game, I thought it would be a platformer starring Yoshi. Boy, was I wrong. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The object of the game is to match up enemies such as Bloobers and Goombas into pairs, and along the way, match up egg pieces to hatch a Yoshi. Sandwich enemies between the top and bottom halfs of a shell, you get extra points. The gameplay is addictive, yet it can get tedious waiting for a certain piece to fall to clear the level. Liked: Addictive Hated: Waiting for the right piece. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are pretty decent for Gameboy, and if you play it on Game Boy Color, you'll get a nice green and red pallete to match Yoshi. The pieces are easy to tell apart from each other Liked: Nice Yoshi colors of GBC Hated: Nothing really **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Standard cutsey Yoshi stuff. Yoshi makes different noises depending on how many points you score hatching him. The background music can get grating though. Liked: Yoshi! Hated: Somewhat annoying BGM **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: You have to switch four tiles around to line up enemies that fall from the top so that you can match pairs. The play control is pretty solid, as the controls in most puzzlers are. The game design is good, but many players might not keep at it after a few rounds. Liked: Solid Controls Hated: Somewhat tiring game design. **************************************************************************** Improve: I don't know what they could do to improve the game. Many other puzzlers are better than this game RIYL: Tetris, Dr. Mario, Yoshi's Cookie, Tetris Attack, Kirby's Star Stacker. **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you manage to find this game, get it only if you are starved for puzzlers. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: ** Total: 14 x 4 Final Score: 56% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
