Yoshi's Cookie Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Farfetch'd joshnickerson@usa.net Size: 4 Meg Save: None Released: 1993 Works with: Any version **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Okay, the title isn't the greatest name for a game, but the puzzle action is very addictive, just like eating actual cookies! **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The gameplay is very simple, yet addicitive. Your goal is to line up rows of the same kinds of cookies and clear the screen. If you clear enough cookies, you get a special Yoshi cookie, which is a wild card and can be used with any other cookie. And with well over 100 levels, you'll be clearing cookies for a long time. The only quibble is that you might confuse some cookies with others. Liked: That feeling after clearing rows of cookies with one move! Hated: Some cookies look similar to each other. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are pretty simple, and cookies look like cookies. Between levels you can enjoy cinema scenes with Mario and Yoshi. Liked: Cookies look tasty Hated: Some cookies look alike **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Some of the music is catchy and you might catch yourself humming it on occasion. The sounds are basic Gameboy sounds, but they get the job done. Liked: Catchy music Hated: Nothing really. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The play control is dead on, with solid controls. The cursor to move the cookies is a bit small, but it blinks so it's easy to find if you lose it. Liked: Decent control. Hated: Sometimes lose track of the cursor. **************************************************************************** Improve: If they do make another Yoshi's Cookie game, it should definatly take advantage of the Game Boy Color's color pallete. RIYL: Tetris Attack, Yoshi, Tetris, Kirby's Star Stacker **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you crave puzzle action, you'll find Yoshi's Cookie a tasty treat. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 19 x 4 Final Score: 76% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Extra levels. Set Music to Off, Level to 10 and Speed to Hi. Then highlight Level and press Up and Select at the same time to access levels over 11. Editor's Note: I would like to mention that Yoshi's Cookie is also one of the few Game Boy games to support Four Player play. :)
