WWF: Attitude Game by: Acclaim Sports Reviewed by: KG3193 KG3193@lycosmail.com Size: 8 megabits (1 megabyte) Save: Password Released: 1999 Works with: Only Game Boy Color *********************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I am a huge fan of wrestling, so I have been waiting for this game to come out for a long time. Will it live up to my expectations, or will it wind up as another game in the "Never-Play" pile? ********************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: WWF Attitude plays a lot like WWF: Warzone for Nintendo 64. There are a couple of different game modes to play; Career where you have to defeat all the wrestlers, Championship where you fight everyone else and can win belts, VS which speaks for itself, Tag Team which also speaks for itself, a Training mod where you can become more familiar with the moves, and a great Cage mode where two wrestlers compete against each other in a steel cage. The game is difficult to play at first, as it seems as if the other wrestlers are kicking your butt. Once you learn the basic moves though, the game becomes very simple. After I beat the different game modes for the first time, I found that everything except the Cage Mode was boring. The training mode was a nice feature, as it helped me learn the basic moves. Something that turned me off of the game was the password system that WWF: Attitude has. I hate games with passwords (as opposed to battery-saves), and I found it a burden to have to copy down a new password after each match. There are 20 different wrestlers in this game, so I found it alot of fun to play. All the wrestlers have different finishing moves, so if you're a fan of wrestling you will enjoy seeing Stone Cold do the Stunner on Triple H, or seeing Kane give Road Dogg a Tombstone. I found the Cage mode to be alot of fun and difficult. Liked: Most of the WWF superstars are in the game; the Cage mode! Hated: The password system, the game gets easy once you learn the basics. *********************************************************************** Graphics Description: You could tell of the wrestlers apart, which was nice. I also noticed something interesting about the crowds in the Challenge mode: they get bigger as you defeat more wrestlers (it was just something that I found to be neat). You're only able to see the side view of the wrestlers when they fight, but I guess that was to be expected on the Game Boy Color. Liked: You could tell which wrestler was which. Hated: Nothing ********************************************************************* Sound/Music Description: There is one annoying song that gets played throughout the entire game...it gets old after 10 minutes. The sound effects were awful as well, as there really were no sound effects in the game. It looks like Acclaim really focused on the graphics and ignored the sound effects. It would have been nice to have the wrestlers theme songs. Liked: Nothing Hated: Very annoying *********************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The control was straightforward, push B to grapple with your opponent and then push the directional pad. There was nothing confusing about the game, which was nice. Liked: Good control, easy to learn but tough to master Hated: The grapple control was too simplistic, would have been nice to have something other than the traditional jam-the-button thing. *********************************************************************** Improve: Include wrestlers' theme songs. I'd also like to see more storylines in the sequel...and use a BATTERY save. RIYL: Any other 'wrasslin game out there... *********************************************************************** Final Words: If you're a fan of wrestling, you will like this game. It's nice to see all the different superstars in this game, and try to recreate different matchups. I was satisfied by almost everything except the sound effects. Non-fans of wrestling will be unimpressed and will not like the game. If you're a fan, go and buy the game! **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: * Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 14 out of 25.
