Worm Light by NYKO Review by Farfetchd nickerso@homerla.com Released: 1999 Height: Kinda tall Width: Not Very wide Weight: Not heavy at all Batteries: No battery Use with GB Color and GB Pocket +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks: I've never been too keen with lights for the Gameboy. Most of the time, they're these pain in the rear chunks of plastic that feed off of several batteries of their own and are often too bulky to carry around. But NYKO finally gets it right with the Worm Light. Instead of a chunk of plastic fitting over the screen, this little gadget plugs into the Link port and a small light hovers above the screen. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: This was a cheap little device, only about 8 bucks so when I bought it, I figured if I didn't like it, it wouldn't be such a big waste. Turns out 8 bucks is a great deal for this thing. The light bulb is almost florecent like, so you get a clean white light on your GameBoy screen. I don't see why no one thought of this before. The light is very small and lightweight, you wouldn't notice any extra weight when you play your gameboy. It plugs into the Link Port so it requires no extra batteries. So far, I haven't noticed the light taking away much power from the GameBoy's batteries. The light is supported by a flexible spiral wire and hovers over the screen like a desk lamp. One small quibble; sometimes you'll get glare on the screen, but it's more the fault of the shiny GB screen than the light, and you can easily angle the light so the glare is off the screen. It also comes in many colors, so you can match the light with your Gameboy casing! Liked: No more bulky plastic junk! Hated: Glare problems, but easily fixed. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: Hmmm, I don't think much could be improved... maybe Nintendo could give them an "Official Seal of Approval" because this thing is so danged cool! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: For under 10 bucks, this ain't a bad deal, and you can play in the dark! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 95% +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: You can use the little plastic converter that comes with the universal game link to use the Worm Light on an old model GameBoy.
