Wario Land 2 (Non-GBC enhanced) Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Farfetch'd joshnickerson@usa.net Size: 8 Meg Save: 1 Save Slot Released: 1998 Works with: Any Version **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Wario is back, and this time, he's the one who's been robbed! Will this new "no-die" gameplay work out? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Wario once again seeks out coins and power ups, but this time, he cannot die! Sure, when enemies hit him, he will either lose some coins, or change his form, but you will never see a pesky Game Over screen. But that doesn't mean the game will be easy. The tough puzzles and bosses will make the going rough for Wario and his ill wills He must navigate over 50 levels of platform action, and will have to change his form at certain points to advance or open up hidden passages. You can also find hidden treasures and mini games along the way to the goal. The goals for the stages are unique (ex. Return Hen to Her Nest) The stages are also complex enough that you can play them over and over again and still discover new stuff. Liked: Huge levels, hidden paths, multiple endings. Hated: Some levels are a bit too complex. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: No matter what system you play the game on, it still looks smooth. Wario is big and detailed, as well as many other other other characters and objects in the game. The colors on SGB are well done, and if you play on SGB, the border around the screen will change depending on which stage you are on. Liked: Very clean, even on an old model GB Hated: Nothing, really. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The same ol Wario music we come to know and love. It's slightly warped, just like Wario. The music paces the action, with relaxing music underwater and frantic music when facing a boss. The music also changes when you near an exit, so you know you're getting close. The sound effects are the usual Mario sounds. Liked: A few catchy tunes Hated: Some tunes are grating **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls are very good, though you may get confused when Wario changes form, as the controls change too. The levels are well designed, though a few layouts might be a bit frustrating for beginners. Liked: Good controls Hated: A few frustrating level layouts **************************************************************************** Improve: Improve the graphics and sound, as well as include more than one save slot. RIYL: Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2, Wario Land, Wario Land VB **************************************************************************** Final Words: This is one of the more original platform games to come out recently, and if you haven't gotten it yet, GET IT! You can also get it in a GB Color version as well. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 25 x 4 Final Score: 100% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
