Wario Land 2 Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Beefy_B BeefyB_77@yahoo.com Size: 8 megabits Save: Battery backed, one save slot Released: 1999 Works with: all gameboy units **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: He's big, he's bad, he's Mario with a W. Wario is much more than that, however, he's damn good (tm). **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Where can I start. This game is mario but so much more. First of all the part of this game that seperates it from any other is the fact that Wario cannot die. No, he's not indestructable, but he cannot die. What this does, is free Wario Land two from the usual humdrum that plagues many of todays platformers. This no-die platformer becomes much more than other platformers. While the story of the game is not very original it is made up for in Wario himself. Wario's ability to resist death enable him to change during play. For when a bee stings him, instead of dieing, he will swell up and float like a balloon and is able to reach high places, this ability along with many others combines with Wario's large stable of moves to create a truly unique game. On top of the incredible depth of Wario is the depth of the game. It contains a whopping 52 levels, each of which contain 2 minigames. In the minigames you recieve either one of wario's treasure or a piece of a map. Which, when completed will reveal a secret. Also unique in this game is its level structure. It is a non-linear platformer in several levels there are alternate exits which will lead wario on a different path to a different ending (there are 6 in all). After one path is completed you can go back and play any level you want or start another path. Liked: Wario cannot die. Non-linear gameplay. Amount of attacks. Hated: Nothing **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Things are colorful and easily recognized. This game is the best dual game i have ever seen colorwise. The art of the characters unique and the enemies are interesting; especially the bosses. (Especially the basketball playing rabbit.) Liked: Everything looks spectacular. Hated: Nothing **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music is catchy but soon grows tire some. Where the music lacks however is where the sound effects make up. everything sounds like it should. The sound works very well. Liked: The sound effects. Hated: THe music was a little annoying. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Play control is excellent. All if Wario's actions easy to do and are done without lag. Moves are fast and crisp. Game design is truly one of the highlights of this title. The levels are among the best thought out that I have ever played. The layout of the levels, when combined with the puzzels, is a very fun experience. It is something which should not be missed by anyone. Liked: All of it. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: I can't think of anything that would improve this game. RIYL: Warioland, Mario land 1 & 2, Super Mario Brothers DX **************************************************************************** Final Words: With the current influx of bad-goodguys such as spawn, and Stone Cold Steve Austin, Wario is surely wellcome. The player can connect with his obssesion to get back his fortune from the pirates who stole it from him. This along with the superbness of the games quality make it an instant classic. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 24 stars Final Score: 96% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Check in gamefriend.
