Totally Pokemon!:Music from the hit TV Series Nintendo, 4Kids Entertainment, KOCH Records Reviewed by Hopeless TR Fan, dromeosaurus@hotmail.com Released: Jan. 23, 2001 Use with: CD Player, Computer, DVD Player, PSX, DC...anything that plays CD's ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks:Well, it's the newest domestic Pokemon soundtrack, this time done by a seemingly self created Pop group "Johto". Considering the fact that the prior CD had "three" songs on it, this is another full one like the original 2.B. A Master. It took me forever to find this CD, and it was mostly so I could have the full third opening as well as Brock's song, but I didn't have any high hopes for the other songs on here, as I'm not really a fan of pop music. Oh well, here goes my first review. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions:Hmm, it's definitely a nice package with Lugia and Ho-oh in front and it has a healthy 12 songs as well as 7 other Kareoke type tracks included. As for each song... Pokemon Johto: Now, I like this song actually, and was one of the reasons why I wanted to buy this CD in the first place. It's got a pretty nice sound and is obviously meant to be pop in style. While the original openings are better, this is pretty good. Granted, of the three dub songs it's my least favorite, but I still like it. Pikachu(I Choose You): At first, I was rather pesimisstic about a song with Pikachu in the title. heck it IS the title! This is made in the Latin style to ride the recent wave of Latin Music, as well as having a very good beat. I admit,I didn't like it at first, but after hearing it a couple times, I found myself humming along and actually bobbing my head in time to the beat. Pretty catchy, might I add. All We Wanna Do: Oh boy, here we go. When this song started, I sighed and that's exactly what I thoght. However, after hearing the whole song out, it isn't TOO bad, but it can still be much better. Again, nice beat with the whole freinds together theme going on, but still not too impressive. Nice little song actually. The Game: Argh! Here comes the Boy Band type pop! Eh, okay, so it's not TOO bad again, but definitely not better then the previous song. The chorus sounds pretty good though, but overall, has something to be desired. Not bad, but I wouldn't skip to this track. Wouldn't skip past it either though. He Drives Me Crazy: Here comes the One girl singing alone pop song ala Brittney Spears. The song, like Misty's Song, is about Misty liking Ash and wondering why she follows him around. Nice beat, and good voice, but a little gushy for me. Wouldn't skip this one either, but not too bad again. You & Me & Pokemon: An excedingly long name for a simple song. Has an upbeat tempo and about freinds again, as well as the whole thing about the trainer's life. Again, I actually grew to like this song after about 6 times listening it to review it. The beat and chorus are pretty catchy as well. Biggest Part of My Life: Oy, I don't like this song too much. I can't quite decribe the style, but man, I ind it too boring. About the Trainers life again. Those Yahoos get dang annoying, oy.-Skips song- Do Ya Really Wanna Play?: It should be Do Ya Really Wanna Play this Song. I don't hate this song, but I don't like it either. About the trainers life once again, specifically about winning and losing. Pretty bland, but nice beat in the chorus, sounds familiar... Song Of Jigglypuff; heh, one of the songs I thought I would hate the most I actually like. The song has sound clips off Jigglypuff's song throughout it, and is(duh!) about Jigglypuff and her song. I don't know why, but I quite like this song, it's pretty simple, though some of the lyrics are somewhat misleading about Jiggly's moves, but not a complaint. Nice song. Two Perfect Girls: Heh, I like this song. Very much, This is the Double Trouble of this CD, as Brock's VA actually sings this in character, might I add. Basically, it's about Brock gaping and staring at girls, specifically Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. Pretty cute song, as well as being pretty funny to listen to. Sure, it's got a bad message if you think about it, but hey, I think you could've gotten that from just watching Brock in the show. Nice. Never Too Far From Home: Argh, the other song I really don't like. I think it's supposed to be about Ash's mom, and about how he can always come home if he needs to and he'll always be close enough. Pretty boring. PokeRap G/S: Don't let the title fool you, this is even less of a rap then the original. Still probably the best way to learn the names, but the beat isn't as good and there is almost zero rhyming in the names. Pokemon Johto Pikachu(I Choose You) All We Wanna Do You & Me & Pokemon Song of Jigglypuff Two Perfect Girls PokeRap G/S (All Kareoke Versions): All instrumental versions of the songs for you to sing along with(Like you really will). Not nearly as good as the Instrumental version in Pokemon World, but he, it adds time to the CD. (More likely then not, these were added due to the fact that there is no Clip included this time around). Liked: Pokemon Johto, Pikachu, All We Wanna Do, Song of Jigglypuff, Two Perfect Girls, nice packaging. Hated: Biggest Part of My Life, Never Too Far From Home, TOO MUCH POP!!! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: For starters, have more songs done by the VA's if possible. Also, can they please stop with all this Pop? I mean, some is okay, but the CD's should have more variety like 2.B.A Master. Oh, and bring back the video clips, and perhaps throw in the English Versions of Rocket Dan Yo Eieni and Meowth's Party. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: Well, I don't regret buying this CD and like it overall, but it's still not better then the original CD, and of course, the original Japanese Soundtracks are still far superior, even if I cant understand everything they say. It's nice for fans, but if you don't fancy pop, well, stay away from this. But if you're a fan, go ahead, you shouldn't regret it. Well, at least not TOO much anyway. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 90.5% ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: Er...it plays on the Playstation and Dreamcast?
