Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 Game by Konami Reviewed by Lord Alucard lorde_alucard@hotmail.com Size: 2 megabits Save: Passwords Released: 1993 Works with: Every Gameboy Opening Snide Remarks: Although the Ninja Turtles aren't my favorite characters, all their games are good ones, made by my personal favorite software house, Konami. Well, I thought, let's give this one a chance. Gameplay: I've never played TMNT2 in the Gameboy, but I also have the first one, and this game is much different from the hack n' slash that TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan offers. The best comparation which comes to my mind is Metroid (NES, GB and SNES). You begin with one turtle, Mike, and must defeat bosses to save the other turtles, each one with different abilities. Mike, for example, can float like an helicopter with his nunchakas. The other abilities are climbing walls (Donatello), turning into a shell (Rafael) and breaking blocks (Leonardo). Each turtle opens other possibilities in the levels, just like Metroid does with Samus' armors and items. Well, also just like Metroid you can go back and forth in the stages. Something to complain: the bosses are tough as hell, and I consider myself a good player. Well, Konami was known in the old times for the immortal bosses... Anyone remembers the Grim Reaper in Castlevania I for the NES? Also you can get pizzas. The small piece replains energy while the big one stocks one more bar, and if you lose all your energy it'll refill. The thing is simple: get remote controls to open doors and save the turtles after beating one hell of a boss. Simple, but surely fun. Graphics: The graphics aren't that good. "Fall of the Foot Clan" is much better in this feature, but the levels were much less designed. Also the backgrounds are very repetitive. Sound: I really like the sounds of this game, although they're nothing special. Music: The music is VERY good. Anyone who used to watch the cartoon (and I know a lot of you did) will remember the first stage music. All of the music in general is excellent. Play Control: The play control is simple but efficient. The turtles jump high and are easy to control, and no one can complain about it. Final Analysis: This is a pretty rare game, but also worth a look. Buy it if you like Metroid, but don't hope to see the same masterpiece that Metroid is.
