Spy vs. Spy COLOR ONLY VERSION Game by Kemco Reviewed by The snotgurgle jessehere@yahoo.com Size: 8 megabits Save: Password Released: 1999 Works with: Gameboy color only (!) **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Hey! Look! Its that game I've been waiting for since January! Ok, it was a long wait for this game to come out, but it was worth it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The basic idea is you are trying to get out of a maze-like building, and in order to get out, you need to get certain items. However, there is another spy trying to do the same thing, and only one of you can get all the items. If that seems easy, you can set traps for each other, and if you get hit with a trap, you lose you items! This game is just like the nintendo version, with only a few differences. So, I dug out my Nintendo and compared the two games. The music is about the same, and the items are a little different, but the one thing that is really different is the enemy spy's AI. Ok, in the nes version, the spy is predictable, But NOT in this game! Ok, I've been trying to figure out if it's my imagination or not, but when you set traps like crazy, the other spy gets pissed, and starts setting traps like crazy too! One more thing: to master this game, it helps to have good spatial reasoning, you have to be able to turn the rooms into a 3d map in you r head. Liked: The enemy spy's AI! Its kicks! Hated: There is no "skill level" setting **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Better than the nes version. Rooms have many more types of of furniture, and some things are textured. Liked: Many more types of furniture. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Its pretty good. Not donkey kong good, but the way the music actually sounds is good. For example, there are drums, and instead of sounding like static, they sound like a drum. Liked: Realistic music. No beep, beeeeep, beep beeps Hated:They could have made the spy's giggle better, that's it. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: There is not much to control in this game, its very straightforward, and that's all there is to it. Liked: Nothing Hated: Nothing **************************************************************************** Improve: This would be hard on a GB, but if they could make a custom game editor, it would really kick. Ya know, randomly generated levels, you choose # of rooms, items to find, ect. RIYL: Not much. It's a pretty original game. **************************************************************************** Final Words: You need this game. You know you want it. Don't resist. You must have it. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: 5 Graphics: 4 Sound/Music: 4 Play Control/Game Design: 5 Personal Opinion: 5 Final Score: 92% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: nope
