InfoGenius Spell Checker and Calculator Game by Gametek Reviewed by Chris Read chrisdread@aol.com Save: none Released: September 1991 Works with: All Game Boys Opening Snide Remarks: Just because it's called Game Boy doesn't mean that every piece of software is a game. Gametek did a very brave thing introducing its line of non-game paks. This Infogenius series also includes Spanish and French language translators, a travel guide and a personal organizer. Gameplay: The spell checker: Basically, you type in a word and it tells you if you've spelled it correctly. If not, it gives you a list of words that you might have meant. The calculator: Yes, there's also a calculator. Just your basic 9-digit calculator. It's not scientific or anything, just addition, multiplication, subtraction, division and square root. Graphics: The graphics fit the theme. There's a keyboard with a cursor shaped like a hand. Sound: Just basic sound effects. If you type in a number, you'll hear a "ping." Music: None. Play Control: You'll have to wait a few seconds for the spell checker to work. It takes a few more seconds if the word isn't spelled right. The calculator gives the answers automatically, no matter how complex the problem. Final Analysis: A very interesting little pak. It's also rare, so if you find one and you think you want it, you'd better pick it up. It's kind of fun actually, but kind of useless with the advent of spell checker on PCs. If you want a calculator, well chances are your PC has one, but if not, here's a good one. Score Gameplay: 4 Graphics: 1 Sound: 1 Music: 0 Play Control: 4 Total: (Add up the stars; they should equal a number between 0 and 25. Now multiply that number by 4. This should give you a score anywhere from 0 to 100. Add the % sign to the number and that is the Final Score.) Final Score: 40%
