Revelations : The Demon Slayer Game by Atlus Reviewed by EMFF Alanias13@hotmail.com Size: 8 megabits Save: 3 Battery backed saves Released: 1999 Works with: All GBs Opening Snide Remarks: I had been waiting for this game for months. It seemed like a grown up pokemon where you don't just throw poke balls at them you actually talk to them. Would it live up to my hopes? Gameplay: plays like an old dragon warrior game. Like most RPGs it has an over head view where you little blocky sprite character walks around and saves the world. The battles are pretty bland again like DW where you are facing forward at the monster pretty standard fare except there is a talk command. This is where this game COULD have shined but instead the conversations are dull repetitive and just downright annoying after the first few. The rest is pretty much like most other rpgs with inns and weapon shops and armor shops etc...Oh ya this game has a lot of level building its more of the old school "fight battles till you go nuts" then it is the "gripping plot amazing graphics" game of today. Graphics: The graphics are decent for an rpg. The monsters are quite detailed though not very colorful. The choice of colors in this game is awful with pastels everywhere but the actual sprites and art is up to par. If it wasn't for the colors perhaps it wouldn't get so boring to look at so quickly. Sound: The sound effects aren't amazing but they do the job. Music: I'm kinda unfair in this department as I am a lover of all game music. Beeps and bloops or epic symphonies I love the stuff so I actually thought the music was pretty good. Others may disagree but all in all the music did a good job. Play Control:It does what its supposed to do play control isn't big in rpgs. The only thing i have to complain about is your slow moving character. Final Analysis: Its got all the potential of a great game but fails to impress in the end. The horrible convorsation options and the iffy graphics took this one down a lot. I certainly won't be looking out for the sequal. Score Gameplay:*** Graphics:*** Sound:*** Music:**** Play Control:**** Total:***************** 17 out of 25 Final Score:68% Currently Known Codes:None
