Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS By: Game Freak Reviewed by: pikamom pikamom@supernet.com Released: 2000 Battery Life: It has a battery save feature, your pikachu will automatically turn off when you are not playing with him. Colors on-screen: Full color, you can even adjust the color! Use with: Using the infrared port on top you can communicate with another Pokemon Pikachu 2 and with Pokemon Gold and Silver on a gameboy color. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks: This is a little virtual pet that looks like a tiny gameboy. I was wearing it on my shoe at the mall, and some guy asked me if I had a gameboy on my foot! Living inside is a pikachu, you can check on him throughout the day to see what he is doing. It's an alarm clock and a pedometer too. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: The case color is two-tone gray; the back is dark gray and the front is light gray with sparkles. There is a clip for your belt or shoelace, and when you keep him with you throughout the day you accumulate watts for every step you take. Then you can play a game of high/low with the watts, or trade them to another Pokemon Pikachu 2 or to a Gold or Silver Pokemon game on a gameboy color. You can also give them to your pikachu for a present, and he will grow in his feelings toward you. Giving the watts to your gameboy game results in an item in the computer in your room or upstairs at any pokemon center. Liked: Pikachu is so-o-O-O cute! One time I saw him eating a vanilla twist ice cream cone, he was licking it with his cute little tongue (he also makes adorable noises!) and then he just bent over and stuck his face in it, and when he staightened up, his face was all white!! You can make your own tune for the alarm clock and even trade tunes with another Pokemon Pikachu 2! The mini game is more fun than in the original Pokemon Pikachu. Pikachu holds up two cards and you can bet 5 watts. Make your bet, and pikachu shows you one card, then you push up(high) or down(low) on the plus pad. You can keep betting and playing until you lose, or decide to stop. The longer you keep playing the same game, the more watts you can win. There's lots of detail in here. For example, when you are playing the card game, pikachu's face will change. The backs of the cards have a pokeball design, and the face's have suits (red hearts, black spades...). Sometimes pikachu will peek at you from the edge of the screen and then wave! Or walk across the clock screen. There are all kinds of surprises. He grows much, much slower in this one than in the original, too. Hated: Besides the clip on the back, there is a little hole sticking out of the infrared port, but if you want to wear your pikachu on a chain around your neck, you better find a mighty small chain with teeny tiny fasteners, because the hole is too small for anything to fit through. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: This is a great improvement from the original pikachu, but I wish there were more mini-games in it. I thought the price was a bit steep, too, but I really wanted it so I shelled out the money. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: Well, if you have Pokemon Gold or Silver, you probably want to get this. If you love pikachu, this makes a great companion! And finally, if you like to walk or exercize, this is nice to keep track of how active you've been, AND, it keeps records for 7 days, so you can flip through the days and compare them. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: I'm probably biased since I'm a true blue pokemaniac and pikachu is my mascot. I give it 100%! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: not that I know of, but there very well could be. I haven't found the game to cheat like it did in the original. That slot machine was so rigged! If you played long enough, you could get all 7's easily! Wait a minute, I think there is a secret! When I first set my alarm, you could chose the default alarm (A) or choose to make your own. Later on I went to work on my tune and I saw there were now 2 choices for the default alarm (A) and (B). Could there be more?
