Mad Catz Twin Skin Pack System/accessory by Mad Catz Reviewed by Philip Andrew Wesley Released: 2000 Use with: Game Boy Color AND Game Boy Pocket (Not reccommended. See review.) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks: Okay, ever seen an MP100 from Palm? How about a Nokia Cell Phone? Those have interchangeable face plates. A different color for each day, if you wanted to. Now, that sounds like a good idea for the Game Boy, right? Well, yes.. I think it does. But how is it really... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: Vanity begets Vanity and all is Vanity. That's all I can say. Liked: The device is nice looking and because of it's design, it helps protect the Game Boy Color's screen for injury at times. Hated: Now, here is the nitty-gritty of this review. The skin has loads of problems here. For one, the sides are thick and when this is on your Game Boy Color, you can not use ANY of the following tools correctly. I'll list them. 1. Game Link Cable. The notch on the side makes part of the cable not fully connect. That is BAD! 2. Light devices like the Nuby Cobra Light or the Nyko Worm Light. The Cobra won't fit period, and the Worm Light suffers from being partially loose. 3. Some Cheat devices need to be forced to fit on the Game Boy with this on it. 4. Battery Packs. Most Battery Packs have problems attaching with this on or will fail to attach correctly. 5. Stereo Enchancement devices like that Mad Catz Speaker deal will not work with this on. 6. Niche products like the Tiny Tuner, Boom Box Boy, Nyko Hip Clip, Handy Boy, and some carrying cases will not work with this attached. I also didn't like the thickness of the device in certain parts. The thin bit of plastic between the A and B buttons gets in the way while playing games that require quick button rolls, or repeated pushing. It's uncomfortable for those games. Strap it on to a Game Boy Pocket and it's laughable in it's horribleness. The plastic is too thick and the holes too small around the buttons. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: Sand it down a little in places, do some more color choices, maybe some liscensed face plates. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: It has a lot of problems; but a good power tool can fix those right up! Bwa ha ha! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 56% +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: Nope.
