Majesco GBA SP Headphones System/accessory by Majesco Reviewed by Philip "Pocket Squirrel" Wesley Released: 2004 Use with: GBA SP ONLY +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks: Here I am, about to crank out a review of $9.95 headphones designed specifically for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP. Since the Nintendo DS does not push audio through the same port as power reception. Considering the price point on this set of headphones, they really should be a "no thought" purchase. However, they are not the only headphones out there and for those willing to invest on getting an adaptor for the GBA SP, there are definately lots of choices for headphones. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: These are behind the head headphones and the cord is of a decent length. There is no amplification in the headphones, but they translate sound from the GBA very nicely. They appear to only have average range and Majesco was kind enough to not make a fuss on what that range is. Majesco handed these out for free at E3 2004 and considering how easy these appear to be to make, I think the price point for them is a bit borderline. I used them with my GBA Movie Play Version 2 and I was able to detect the defects in sound I purposefully set into some of my custom GBS files. So, these pick up nicely. I noticed that some of the headphone units I had seemed lower than others. This may be just some sort of odd effect as no two headphones are truly alike in sound depth and level, because of material differences. The device does not have an extra port to allow for charging the device while you listen to music via the headphones. The system only comes in a silver and black color with the Majesco logo branded upon it. These are intended to be purchased and used with Majesco and Nintendo's Game Boy Movie line up of titles. The headphones only have one cord so there is no cord clutter like many other headphones. The ear units are comfortable and the headphones seem to be flexible enough for all humanly normal head sizes. These are pretty durable headphones. You can toss them around, swing them around, and do all sorts of abuse to them with out damaging them or their performance. Liked: Durable, easy to use (just plug them in), inexpensive, and stylishly neat. Hated: No way to charge and listen at the same time. No multiple colors to choose from. No amplification. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: Add an amplification switch as well as multiple colors and the ability to charge and listen. If none of those improvements, then lower the price to $6.99 or less so more people can buy them without hesitation. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: Hey, these Majesco headphones make a lousy review, but a good purchase. Please consider buying these ones as they are the easiest, the most sturdy, and cost effective, dedicated headphones for the SP. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 88% +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: Cool.
