I've had it so long, I don't remember when or where I got it. It just sort of materialized in my Gameboy collection one day long ago. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: This is the Magnifier/Light/screen protector accessory that's been so popular with Gameboy's until the invetion of the GBA SP. It takes four AA's, so it's not exactly a lightweight accessory, but way back when, that's all we had. It has a tri-layer fold out design. The first fold-out will fold down, leaving an uninhibited view of the screen with a 3" lip jutting out. The last fold-out brings a magnifier out of the lip, yet leaves the lip still there. It actually is a pretty good magnifier, it's just that the hinges are a bit wonky. It's got one switch, for the light. The designer(s) of this little toy do deserve a bit of praise. They actually used those grooves that are on the DMG Gameboy as an anchor, and they hold pretty well. It just slides in perfectly, and will not budge unless it's sliden back out. There is also a groove on the side so you can see the battery life of the DMG Gameboy, and the ON/OFF switch, ON/OFF writing, and cartridge slot are left completely free. Even the color of the machine is the same color as the DMG Gameboy (before the PlayItLoud series), so it looks like some freaky growth. The light is a really wonderful design. Instead of shining directly on the screen, which would lead to glare (a horrible mistake of the Wormlight), the light shines on shiny white paper, which then is reflected onto the screen. It looks downright good...unfortunately, the magnifier, as all magnifiers do, creates a shadow at the edge of the screen. Liked: It was designed very well, and did it's job very well. Hated: Using eight batteries to play my Gameboy at night made me feel like I was using a GameGear. Thankfully, the batteries lasted longer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: Well, since this technology is basicaly obsolete, you really can't improve it, can you? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: If you can find it, and still use your DMG Gameboy, then pick it up, by all means. If you want to make your DMG Gameboy even bigger, pick it up. Also, pick up a GameGenie. That'll make your Gameboy tall as heck. It's too bad you can't use both at the same time. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 95% (For what it does, and taking in accordance it's age and the era it came out in, and the fact that the choices were limited.) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: If you play in a well lit room and squint, you won't need this. You'll also need glasses later on, but that's a small price to pay. Also, this thing, much like the DMG Gameboy, can survive a drop from 6 feet onto concrete.
