FacePlate Create-A-Cover kit Accessory by Performance (Interact) Reviewed by pikamom pikamom@supernet.com pikamom1@gamesharker.com (my gameboy e-mail) Released: 2000 Use with: gameboy color only +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opening Snide Remarks: Did you get your gameboy color when they were first released and you had the choice of purple or purple? Do you wish you could change the look of your gameboy? Do you put stickers on your gameboy in an attempt to personalize it? Well, here is the answer to all your problems. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Impressions: This kit comes with two white faceplates, a paintbrush, paint in the basic colors, and a mixing tray. The faceplates are plastic shells in the shape of the top half of your gameboy color with holes for the buttons and ports. It snaps easily onto your gameboy and fits perfectly. It does not slide and you can use your buttons just as before. I was a little worried about this, but it's fine. There's no sharp edges, the openings for the holes slope in so it feels natural. It also is easy to snap off and does not damage your gameboy in any way. The paint is model paint (my son pointed this out, I wouldn't have known this since I've never made a model.) It dries slick and is not sticky at all! Makes a professional enamel-like finish. Liked: This is a great way to change the look of your gameboy, I'm surprised no one ever thought of this before. When you snap it on, it fits like a glove and that's good. Doesn't look bulky or unnatural at all! Joshua painted his midnight blue with a Harley-Davidson logo, I painted mine hot pink with Ms. Pacman, the four ghosts, all the fruit from the game, and trails of white pellets all over. And Sarah made hers baby pink with red hearts and flowers. If you wanted, you could make several different ones for your favorite games, and then when you are in the mood, change your gameboy face too. Kind of like the borders on Super gameboy games you play on tv! Hated: Right away we noticed the nintendo logo right under the screen has been replaced with the word InterAct. It should say nintendo. And if your not careful, the paint can clog the speaker holes. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Improve: Include more colors. You should be able to make any color you want by mixing, but not everyone is good at that. Other than that and the replaced nintendo logo, it does exactly what you expect. Fits just right, doesn't impede the buttons. I think the price was fair too. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Final Words: Yet another cool accessory for your gameboy color. It doesn't really do anything. It's not a light or a speaker or shaker... but it's fun. It will make your gameboy extra-special! Yours will be like no other! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Score: 98% (take away 2 points for the replaced nintendo logo. That just isn't right!) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Secrets: This thing doesn't do anything secret. But you can paint secret things.
