Disney's Hercules Game by Disney Interactive, T*HQ, Tie-Tex Reviewed by Renard newt55@juno.com Size: 1 Megabit Save: There's a password for every level. Released: 1997 Works with: Any Gameboy. Supposedly excellent Super Gameboy Support. Opening Snide Remarks: I loved the movie, the TV Show rules, and I just barely got a Game Boy Color. It had to be a winner, right? Gameplay: It is kind of fun, albeit some confusing parts. The bosses are generally VERY poorly designed and almost impossible to beat, except the final one. Go fig. Also, Phil constantly pops up with really stupid tips. I couldn't imagine NOT doing this with a GBC and the different sprite/background color palletes. Graphics: The animation is beautiful, especially on Herc himself. Even if he doesn't look like the Disney Herc we know really. However, SOME sort of cinema sequence SOMEWHERE woulda been nice. Sound: The sound effects, what few there are, work. Music: Very good music, though only ONE song is included from the movie. And most of it doesn't really sound very Ancient Grecian. Play Control: What the heck were the designers thinking?! They made 'B' jump and 'A' for attack. Some of the moves, like the jump kick, are absolutely pointless. Also, he only jumps straight up and not very high (okay, it's more realistic, but it's not what most video game players are used to). Final Analysis: Big letdown. And to make it all the worse, you can't skip past the opening credits. At least the default GBC color pallete looks good.
