Boarder Zone Game by Infogrames Reviewed by The Avardancer (Philip Wesley) Size: 8 megabits Save: passwords Rated: E Released: 2000 Works with: Game Boy Color ONLY! **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I dig 1080. But, that's a Nintendo 64 game. We don't have anything like that on GBC. Although, this game is attempting to come close; let us see. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: One thing I love about raceing games is a sense of speed. Some games, actually manage to pull off a sense of Speed. V-Rally 99, and Top Gear Pocket 2 actually do that. This game does not. It also feels like you're boarding up hill. O_O It also looks like that; but that's another section. The game has a good amount of Game Play options. Competition - which is Time Attack, a One on One race, Trick Attack, or Boarder Zone which is a combination of the previous three modes. Challenge - Which is essentially the same, without the "Boarder Zone". Practice - They tell you how to do the pretty cool looking tricks. There is a decent amount of characters, and boards to choose from. The game has no battery back up.. so it has passwords. Oh, well. It's fun; but it has no two-player mode. That would have made it even better. It's fun for a bit; but it seems more like a car racer than a snowboarding game. Liked: It's fun. Hated: But.. it has no two player mode, sense of speed, or feeling that you are actually going downhill. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The character animation is buttery smooth, there is snow effects, and some menus. But the game itself.. you look like you're boarding uphill. O_O Liked: Buttery animation, baby! Hated: But that boarding up hill thing isn't good like toast. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music in th egame is generic techno stuff. No music when you're actually playing the game. Just generic sound effects. Not annoying; just not very note-worthy. Liked: 'Sokay. Hated: Not much to it. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: It feels like Cool Boarders, in that you seem to be glued to your board. Hehehe. Fun game with fairly good playcontol. But to be honest.. it REALLY needs multi-player options. REALLY. Liked: Decent. Hated: No two-player.... **************************************************************************** Improve: I want to feel like my character is going downhill and going down that hill quickly. Also.. 2 Player mode.. PLEASE! No passwords.. RIYL: Cool Boarders. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Worth a look. ^_^ But.. it has a good many flaws... **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** (Gave an extra star for that snow. Oh, yeah.) Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: ** Total: 17 out of 25 Final Score: 68% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Naw.
