The Simpsons: Bart's Escape From Camp Deadly Game by Accrap um, Acclaim Reviewed by Josh Nickerson joshnickerson@hotmail.com Size: 1 Meg Save: Nope Released: 1991 Works with: All systems Opening Snide Remarks: Bart Simpson in his first game for the GameBoy? Excited? You shouldn't be. Gameplay: Bart is at camp. Bart must escape camp. Lisa helps out by giving him power ups. Bart tosses spitballs and boomerangs at camp bullies for six long levels. That's about it. This game is a bland sidescroller with virtually no variety and repeating levels. Oh, yeah, and there is no continues. Graphics: Bart and Lisa look OK...as long as they stand still. When Bart walks, it looks like he's just tapping his toe to get around. He has a measly two frame walk. The other characters in the game are just as warped. The backgrounds are awful and bland. The screen scrolls rather choppy, which often makes you mess up and lose a life and with no continues, that is just wrong. Sound: The sound effects are terrible. I counted about five different sound effects in the entire game. Music: The Simpsons theme sounds good, but all the music is the same theme only at different tempos. Play Control: The play control is stiff and unresponsive, often making you miss easy jumps. This is really annoying considering that this game has no continues. Final Analysis: This game is a prime example on why TV show games aren't that welcome. Instead of repeating over and over that this game stinks, let me ask why there was never a home version of the Simpsons Arcade Game? That was a million times better than any other Simpson game (probably because that game was made by Konami rather than Accrap...uh, Acclaim!). Did I mention that this game has no continues?
