Bionic Commando: Elite Forces Game by NST Reviewed by SonnyH DRUMLUVA87@aol.com Size: 16 megabits Save: Battery-Back save Released: 2000 Works with: Game Boy Color only **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This game is awesome. It was my first Bionic Commando game but I like it anyway. I think this is probably my favorite GBC game of all time (though there is some stiff competition). **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: You can pick either a male of a female commando even though it doesn't effect anything at all and go running through the levels. If you aren't really into games, you might not want this one because it is VERY hardcore. There isn't much of a story, but who cares? When you beat levels, you cool upgrades and weapons. Most of the levels are traditional side-scrolling levels but some of them are top-down levels which are fun. The bosses in this game are great. I can think of a few bosses which take a very long time to figure out how to beat. Sometimes you can even go into sniper mode and snipe enemies. That bionic arm sure does come in handy... Liked: The difficulty and the old-schoolness. Hated: Nothing, this game is excellent. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: This game easily has the most fluid animation you will likely ever see. Both the male and the female characters have 15 frames of animation a piece, just for running! The backgrounds also look nice. You can very easily tell the differences between the awesome looking bosses. Liked: The fluidity. Hated: Nothing at all. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Few Game Boy games actually have good music, but this is different. I love the soundtrack. It's one of the best I've heard on the aging Game Boy hardware. The sound effects are also very good and very old-school (which is good). Liked: The awesome music and sound. Hated: Once again, nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: This game is super-addictive and very fun to play through again after you beat it. This may sound odd, but this is one of the few platformers I can think of where you don't have the ability to jump. You get to use your little bionic arm thingie to latch onto everything and pull yourself over. This definitely takes a little bit of time to get used to, but it's worth it. Liked: The responsive controls. Hated: I definitely don't even need the hated part... **************************************************************************** Improve: I wish they would do a sequel... Not anything to improve on really. RIYL: Any other platformer. **************************************************************************** Final Words: One of the best GBC games out there. Buy it quickly and love it. I can't imagine any portable game being more fun than this one. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 25 Final Score: 100% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: If you've ever read any of my reviews, you know that I don't like codes.
