The Simpsons: Bart VS. The Juggernauts Acclaim Reviewed by The Boinker fulgore@mindspring.com Size: 512 kilobits Save: No way to save your progress Released: 1992 Works with: Any Gameboy system **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: After I did my DK94 review, I wondered if everyone might think that I simply loved all games as much as DK94. Therefore I decided to dig this monster out. This is easily the most vile game I have ever purchased, the only game that comes close is the other Simpsons game (Escape from Camp Deadly). **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: This game has many different gameplay styles. All of them are way too difficult for their own good. This game has no learning curve at all. each mode is different and there is little talk about controls or generally any method in which each "event" is played. This game is simply much too difficult, much too soon, with little inspiration throughout the entire ordeal. Liked: Sometimes it is fun to knock the Juggernaut off the platform in the skateboarding event, but not much. Hated: The game drags along at a horrid rate and is much too difficult. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics are okay for gameboy. Things look like they do on the show. For an original Gameboy title, it's not that bad. However, sometimes some of the flashing graphics make it hard to see what else is going on. Liked: Characters look authentic to the show Hated: Special effects make some things hard to see. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The sound is pretty average. The songs get annoying (the gameplay helps hasten that a bit), but it balances out. The music is nothing special, just like everything else about this game. It, like all the other elements, is below average to simply bland. Liked: Nothing, the music was quite boring. Hated: The songs get very repititous very fast. You'll be turning the sound all the way down. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The play control in this game is just plain bad. Delays, slight taps, everything that has ever gone wrong with game controls is exhibited here. It seems all Acclaim games end up the same way, badly done, rushed, and still way too difficult. Liked: Nothing. Hated: Everything, the controls are typical Acclaim. **************************************************************************** Improve: Maybe make it a game? The reason why I wrote so little is that there is very little to tell. This game is just not there. It's basically an empty cartridge that's nor pre-formatted. Great for testing out your Gameboy cleaning kit, because this one will be collecting a lot of dust. RIYL: Wasting Money, Coasters, or anything Simpsons no matter how badly it sucks **************************************************************************** Final Words: This review was built for one sole reason: to warn you. I love the show, this is nothing like the show. Stay away from this one, let it rot in the bargain bin forever. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: 0 Graphics: 1 Sound/Music: 1 Play Control/Game Design: 0 Personal Opinion: 0 Total: 2 Final Score: 8% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None, but then again, why bother?
