Austin Powers: Oh Behave! Game by Rockstar Reviewed by Dade thrasher@inconnect.com Size: 16M Save: Battery, 1 slot Released: 2000 Works with: Game Boy Color Only **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Well, I was thinking that if this game was any where near as good as the movies, this would be a pretty decent games. Did it live up to the movies? Let's see! **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The cool little "GUI" (Graphical User Interface) and DOS-type program that starts out this game is pretty cool. It's all customizable, too. But it looks like that's what they spent most of their time on. The game is plagued by horrible games like Rock, Paper, & Scissors, Mojo Maze, and Domination. Liked: Cool GUI, tons of customizable options Hated: The actual games **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The good part of this game is the videos. Although they're in 4 colors (looks like Rockstar couldn't take the time to do layers), they're quite impressive. Plus there are plenty of them. Once again, the game portion of this cartridge fails to impress me. Liked: Decent videos, overall GUI look and feel Hated: The actual game graphics **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: They DO have digital voice effect, so you can't blame them there. The pitches of the "voices" are recognizable to certain characters, but they're the mechanical, scratchy Game Boy voices. The music in the GUI and the games is terrible. TURN IT OFF. Liked: The attempt at voices Hated: Scratchy, mechanical Game Boy voices, horrible music **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The GUI design of the game is well made and original. Although, the actual games could've used TONS more planning, programming, and overall designing. Liked: Once again, the GUI Hated: Everything about the games **************************************************************************** Improve: Making this an actual game would be nice. If they plan to do a sequel, at least make it an action game. Even though the GUI was reall nice and original, I would have enjoyed this cart alot more if they had made it a game. RIYL: Austion Powers: Welcome to My Underground Layer (the Doctor Evil version) **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you're aiming to treat your Game Boy more like a computer, leave this cartridge in your Game Boy 24/7 :D I haven't tried out the linking capabilites, but they don't look like they'll come anywhere near making this more than a decent game. One other thing I'll comment on quickly are some of the mature themes in this game. In the DOS mode, there are some porn and mature files. Judge for yourself. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: 3 1/2 stars Graphics: 3 stars Sound/Music: 1 1/2 stars Play Control/Game Design: 3 stars Personal Opinion: 2 1/2 stars Total: 13.5 Final Score: 54% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Nope.
