Chapter 1

With her Bulbasaur and her Charmander Hope, Katie continuedtoward Viridian City. "Charmander." said looking atKatie. "Are you hungry Hope?" "Charmander."replied Hope nodding. "Ok, how about you Bulbasaur?""Bulbasaur." replied Bulbasaur also nodding. Katie satdown on the short grass next to the path and handed out somefood. After eating Bulbsaur and Hope began play wrestleing. Theywere all tired from there long walk and decided to take a nap.Katie set her watch so it would begin beeping in an hour, thanthey all nodded off to sleep. Katie, Hope and Bilbasaur wereabruptly woken up by the cries of a scared Rattata and the hissof a hungry Ekans. "Huh? What's going on?" Katie saidas the scared Rattata leaped into her arms. The Ekans lunged forKatie and the Rattata, but Hope and Bulbasaur grabbed the largeEkans by the tail. The Ekans went after Bulbasaur,"Bulbasaur! Vine Wip now!" Bulbasaur unleashed it'sVine Wip and wacked the Ekans away from him. The Ekans triedgoing after Hope, "Hope! Flamethrower now!" Hopeunleashed a powerful wall of flames which the Ekans couldn'tavoid. It slithered off as fast as it could. "Good workHope, Bulbasaur." Katie put the Rattata down, but it jumpedback into her arms. Katie put it down again, and it jumped uponto her shoulder and licked her face. "Hey! Cut that out!It tickles!" Katie said while laughing. "Would you liketo join us?" Katie asked the Rattata. The Rattata gave ahappy "Rattata!" and got into one of Katie'sPokéballs. Bulbasaur also went into it's pokéball, and Hopedecided to walk along side Katie. While walking along the pathlooking carefully into the fields for Pokémon Katie noticedanother trainer, leaning against a tree with his Pidgey on hisshoulder. Katie walked over to him. "Hi. Care for amatch?" The boy replied "Sure!" The boy sent outhis Pidgey, "Hope, go!" Hope stepped forwardconcentrateing on the Pidgey. "Pidgey peck!" the Pidgeyzoomed towards Hope, "Hope! Flamethrower, now!" Hopeused it's Flamethrower, scorching the Pidgey's feathers."Pidgey! Come back! Go Staryu!" Katie looked at theStaryu. "Hope return. Bulbasaur, go!" "Bulbasaur!Vine Wip, now!" Staryu avoided Bulbasaur's Vine wip attackand than tackled Bulbasaur. "BULBASAUR?!?!?!" Screamedout Bulbasaur as it went flying back. Bulbasaur quicklyrecovered. "Bulbasaur! Razor Leaf, now!" Bulbasaurunleashed it's Razor Leaf which completely stunned the Staryu."Bulbasaur! Tackle it while it's still stunned!"Bulbasaur obeyed and sent staryu flying into the tree, almosthitting the boy. "YIKES!" yelled the boy diving out ofharms way. "Staryu! Come back!" The injured Staryureturned to it's Pokéball. "I lose again." He saidsadlly, handing over some cash. "You put up a pretty goodfight. All you need to do is level up your Pokémon." Katiesaid encourageingly. "You think?" replied the boy inhope. Hope and Bulbasaur nodded. The boy happily strode into thetall grass looking for Pokémon he could use for training.

Chapter 2

Bulbasaur got back in his Pokéball and Katie traveled on.Katie glanced into the tall grass and noticed a Pidgey."Cool! A Pidgey!" she said "How'd you like to tryyour skills Rattata?" Rattata replied by coming out of hisPokéball and walking over to the Pidgey, prepareing to fight.The Pidgey was surprised when Rattata tackled it."PIDGEY?!" It squaked. It than flew into the air anddive bombed Rattata who leaped aside just in time. Rattata gotattacked a couple more times and was weakened, it couldn't attackthe Pidgey because it couldn't reach it. "Rattata Bite thePidgey's wing when it swoops down low to disable it's ability tofly" The Pidgey swooped low for an attack, but when it sawRattata leap for it instead of jumping aside it freaked andswerved back upward. Rattata didn't completely miss the Pidgey,it was biting onto it's leg and wouldn't let go because of thelong drop. The Pidgey swooped and swerved trying to losenRattata's grip, but failed. In a finnal attempt it swooped downaiming for the ground as fast as it could. Before Rattata hit theground it let go of it's grip and went sliding and tumbleingaccross the ground. The Pidgey realizeing the Rattata let gotried to swoop back up, but it was to late, it went slamming intothe ground with such force it caused the area to shake a little.Katie decided to wait for the Pidge to stop rolling than threw aPokéball at it. The Pidgey was zapped inside and despite it'ssevere injuries it kept struggleing for five minutes beforegiving up. "Yes! I caught Pidgey!" Katie shouted withglee. Katie looked toward Rattata, it was hurt but would be okafter a little rest and some food. Katie opened her back packwhich was lying on the ground to get some food. "What!?Where's all the food!" Suddenly there was a strange burpfrom over in the grass by a tree. Katie went to investigate, andthere sat a quite content, and extremely large Sandshrew."Did you eat all our food?" Katie asked the Sandshrew.The Sandshrew replied "Sand *hiccup* Shrew" "Getaway from my SandShrew!" a voice yelled, Katie looked backto see a very rude boy approaching. "Your Sandshrew just ateall my food. I paid 100 dollars for that." Katie said to theboy who was approaching. "Too bad." "I demand yougive me the money to replace the food your Sandshrew ate.""Yeah and if I don't, what are you going to do aboutit." "I'll call the cops." "Fine, fine,here's your stupid money." the boy shoved 100 dollars intoKatie's hand. Katie walked back to Hope, Bulbasaur, and Rattata.She let out Pidgey and gave it a Full Heal. Than looked backtoward the boy and his Sandshrew. What she saw enraged her andher Pokémon. Sandshrew was rolled up and the boy was kicking itup against the tree yelling "You stupid creature! You justcost me 100 dollars you dope!" Katie and her Pokémon rushedover to the boy. Hope dove pushing Sandshrew out of the waybefore the boy could kick it again. "You shouldn't kick yourSandshrew!" "It did something stupid! What did youexpect me to do! And anyway it's none of your business!" Hewent to kick sandshrew again, but Rattata bit his foot."OOOWWW!!!" he shouted. "If you won't take care ofyour Sandshrew I'll buy it from you." The boy lookedinterested, "How much?" "How about 100dollars." "It's yours! Boy did I get the better hand ofthe deal! The only thing that Sandshrew's good for iseating!" With that he walked away.

Chapter 3

No matter what anyone did the Sandshrew wouldn't unroleitself. It was getting dark as Katie and her Pokémon reachedViridian City. They went into the Pokémon Center. At thePokémon Center everyone got something to eat except Sandshrew,when it smelled food it started to unrole but than noticed Katieand the Nurse. "What could you possibly do to frighten thisPokémon this much!" Nurse Joy yelled at Katie. "Ididn't do anything to it, I bought it from some kid because hewas kicking it because it did something it shouldn't have and hewouldn't stop hurting it." Katie heard the door open and inwalked the boy. "That's the kid I bought Sandshrewfrom." Katie pointed out the boy. "That's Josh, he's atrouble maker and doesn't take care of his Pokémon like heshould." replied Nurse Joy. Sandshrew looked up and when itsaw Josh it started rolling away as fast as it could."Sandshrew! come back!" Katie caught Sandshrew and heldit in her arms. Katie got her Pokémon and started out to findsomewhere to stay the night. Josh had his Pokémon healed andheaded after Katie. "Hey you!" "My name's not you!It's Katie" Katie snaped at him. "How about amatch." "It's the middle of the night" "Whocares we could use that empty Gym." He pointed out a Gym afew blocks down the road. "I don't think so." Katiereplied. But Josh wouldn't stop annoying her until she gave in.At the empty Gym Katie stared at Josh with furrey. Josh sent outa Spearow. "Hope, go!" Hope stepped forward alsoenraged at Josh. "Spearow use peck." Spearow startedpecking Hope, "Hope! Scratch, now!" Hope startedscratching at the Spearow, the Spearow out of desperation bitHope's paw. "Charmander!" Hope yelled in surprise."Spearow use Wing Attack!" "Hope jump to theleft!" Spearow aimed it's Wing Attack to the left while Hopejumped right. "Hope! Slash, now!" Hope used Slash onthe Spearow and got a direct hit knocking the Spearow down."Get up you stupid thing! Get up!" Spearow layed thereunconcious. "Spearow get over here!" said Joshreturning Spearow to it's Pokéball. "Go get'emRaichu!" "Raichu!" He let out a Raichu that lookedto be about Level 30. "Char!" gulped Hope. "Hope!Flamethrower, now!" Hope used Flamethrower but Raichu easilydodged it. "Raichu use Thundershock!" Raichu unleashedThundershock knocking Hope down Hope struggled trying to get up,but fell down. "Hope Return!" Katie returned Hope to aPokéball. "Go Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur came out and soonFainted. Katie returned Bulbasaur, tried Rattata, than Pidgey butthey all quickly fainted. Katie was about to use Sandshrew butremembered how terrified it was, "I...I...I give u"Katie was cut off by Sandshrew who lept out of it's Pokéball andyelled "Sandshrew!" "Sandshrew, you want tofight?" Sandshrew nodded. "I choose Sandshrew!""Are you kidding! Sandshrew couldn't fight if it's lifedepended on it!" Sandshrew stared at him angrily. "Allright, if you insist! Raichu use Thundershock!""Sandshrew! Dig, now!" Sandshrew dug undergroundavoiding Raichu's Thundershock. "Hey! No Fair!""It is to fair that's 1 of Sandshrew's moves!" All of aSudden Sandshrew came zooming up from right under Raichu andbegan slashing it. "Whhaa?!?! Raich use Thunderbolt!"Sandshrew dove back under ground and again started slashingRaichu. "Raichu use quick attack!" Raichu zoomed atSandshrew who dove out of the way. Sandshrew rolled into a balland rolled as fast as it could at the confused Raichu, Sandshrewgot a direct hit! Knocking Raichu unconcious. "NNNNOOOOO!!!!How could that happen!" "Hey Josh, you forgot 1 thingabout the battle, Sandshrew is ground type, Raichu is Electric,Ground type have a big advantage over Electric. Get it.""Here's your stupid money." Than Josh trudged off.Sandshrew jumped up into Katie's arms, happy he had proven hecould fight. Katie returned to the Pokémon Center to heal herPokémon. "I'm afraid I have some bad news." Nurse Joysaid to Katie, "Your Bulbasaur is dying."

Chapter 4

"WHAT!!!!!" Katie yelled in shock. "It's badlyinjured. The only thing we can do is let it rest.""That's all that can be done for Bulbasaur!""Well, there is a rare flower that's said to heal badly hurtGrass type Pokémon. If you could find one we could probably saveyour Bulbasaur." "I've got to find it! Are my otherPokémon ok? I'll need to take them with me for protection justin case." "Their fine. The flower is said to grow deepin Viridain Forest where it is guarded by thousands of GrassPokémon." Katie gathered her pokémon and packed suppliesfor emergencies. "Tell Bulbasaur not to worry, I'll findthat flower." Than Katie walked out the door and headed intoViridian Forest. "Man it's dark." Katie said as shewalked deeper into the forest. "I better let out Hope tolight the way." Katie let out Hope who led Katie through theforest. Hope's tail flame flickered in the wind. Hope and Katieemerged from the forest into some field. "Wow, look at thoseflowers!" Katie said to Hope looking at a small patch ofweird looking flowers. "I hope these are the flowers."Katie said picking 1. There was several low growls suroundingthem. Neither Katie nor Hope could see what they were coming frombecause the creatures were just out of the light from Hope'sflame. "Hope, use your flamethrower straight up so we cansee what's surrounding us." Hope looked toward the sky andused it's Flamethrower. Now Katie could see all around her. Theywere surounded by so many grass Pokémon it was amazing."Oh, no!" Katie shouted stareing at the only Venusaur."That's the Venusaur that attacked me!""Venusaur." it said angrily. "Please don't attackus. We need this flower." The pokémon were closing in."My pokémon is injured badly. It might die." Thisstopped some of the pokémon. "This flower is my Bulbasaur'sonly chance." More stopped. The only one still coming wasthe Venusaur. The Venusaur looked back, "Venusaur! Venu!Saur!" The pokémon shook their heads. "Venusaur."The Venusaur leaped at Katie, but the other grass pokémon pushedher out of the way. They all attacked the Venusaur who ran."Thank you. Thank you." Katie said to the pokémon. Thepokémon showed Katie the quickest way back to Viridian City.Katie ran into the Pokémon Center, Hope at her heals. "I'vegot the flower! I've got the flower!" Nurse Joy ran out andtook the flower. "Let's hope the legend is true." sheran with the flower to Bulbasaur's room. Katie sat there withHope in the waiting room for hours. It was nearing midnight whenNurse Joy came out again. "Your Bulbasaur's going to be justfine." Katie and Hope were releived and soon fell asleep onthe bench.

Chapter 5

The next morning Hope woke up Katie so they could go seeBulbasaur. They walked in just as Nurse Joy was feedingBulbasaur. "Good morning." Nurse Joy said to Katie,"Here's some food you can feed the rest of yourpokémon." She handed over some food which Katie handed outto her pokémon. Soon Katie headed out toward Viridian Forestwith all her Pokémon. "You know, Viridian Forest looks muchdifferent in the daylight." Katie said as they walkedthrough the forest. Katie looked back, Hope was standing therestareing into a bush. "What'cha looking at Hope?" Katiepeared into the bush, it was a Weedle! "Cool! Pidgey,go!" Pidgey came out of it's Pokéball "Pidgey!Pdgey!" the Weedle looked up "WEEDLE!?!?!" Itshouted in surprise. "Pidgey! Peck, now!" Pidgey peckedat the Weedle. The Weedle attacked with Poison Sting, Pidgey washit, but not poisoned. "Pidgey! Wing Attack, now!"Pidgey unleashed it's Wing Attack and knocked the Weedlesenceless. "Go pokéball!" Katie threw the pokéball atthe dazed and confused Weedle. It struggled but gave up."Yes! I caught Weedle!" Katie shouted in success. Katiesaw out of the corner of her eye an Oddish. She looked over."Hey, were you 1 of those pokémon that helped me lastnight?" "Oddish." it replied. "Bulbasaur'sfine now thanks to you guys. See." Katie let out Bulbasaur."Bulbasaur. Bulba. Bulba. Bulbasaur. Saur." "Odd.Oddish. Ish." Bulbasaur turned to Katie "Bulbasaur.Saur." Katie looked at Bulbasaur. "Oddish wants to joinus?" Bulbasaur and Oddish both nodded. Katie took out apokéball and Oddish got inside. The pokéball vanished. "Imost have 6 pokémon with me." Katie continued through theforest. "Wait!" Katie looked behind her, a girl wasrunning toward her. "I want a match." the girl said toher. "Ok." Katie replied. "Go Hope!" Hope ranforward. "Go ahead Butterfree." the girl sent out anunusaul pink Butterfree. "Stunspore Butterfree!" TheButterfree attacked Hope with Stunspore, Hope couldn't get awayin time. "Hope! Slash, now!" Hope slashed at theButterfree, but the Butterfree flew higher after a few slashes."Hope can't reach that Butterfree way up there."Katiethought to herself. "Hope, Return!"Hope came back toKatie. "Go Pidgey!" Pidgey came out of it's pokéballand flew up to the Butterfree. "Tackle Butterfree!"Butterfree attempted to tackle Pidgey but was dodged."Pidgey! Peck, now!" Pidgey pecked at Butterfree whofainted in mid air. "Butterfree back into yourpokéball."Butterfree returned to it's pokéball. "Iguess you beat me." she said handing over some cash."Bye." and the girl walked off. Hope went for a walk inthe field while Katie prepared lunch. "Charmander!"Hope yelled to Katie from the field. "What? A Pikachu!"Katie rushed over to where Hope was standing. Katie looked overat the Pikachu and jumped back in surprise. "It'sGreen!" Katie and Hope were stareing at a green Pikachu!

Chapter 6

"Pikachu." It squeaked. "Wow, I've got to catchit! Sandshrew go!" Sandshrew popped out of it's pokéball,but when it saw food it started running toward it."Sandshrew! If you don't help me catch this Pikachu yourgoing on a diet." When Katie said diet Sandshrew stopped init's tracks. It ran back to her waiting for commands."That's better. Sandshrew! Slash, now!" Sandshrew ranup to the Pikachu and tried to slash it, but the Pikahu was tooquick. Pikachu leaped on Sandshrew and they rolled and rolled allthe time the Pikachu laughing and smileing. "Huh? It mustthink we're playing with it or something. Sandshrew! Dig,now!" Sandshrew diden't notice Katie yelled out a command,it was to busy playing. "It's no use trying to get thatSandshrew to fight that Pikachu." Katie swerved around, agirl a lot taller had walked up and was watching. "My name'sMichelle, and this is my Squirtle Bubbles. What's yourname?" "My name's Katie that's my CharmanderHope." Katie pointed to Hope who had joined in the playing."What pokémon do you have? I just have Bubbles.""I have Hope, a Bulbasaur, Rattata, Pidgey, Sandshrew,Weedle, Oddish, and I'm hopeing that Pikachu." "Cool, Ijust got Bubbles from my dad and I'm out to find Pokémon."The pokémon had finished playing and they sat down to havelunch. The Pikachu stayed away from the food. "If you wantyou can have something to eat Pikachu." Pikachu smiled, ranover, and started eating. "I'm out to become PokémonMaster. How about you Michelle?" "I'm just trying tocatch as many Pokémon as possible." replied Michelle."Well I better get going. I've got a lot to do if I want tobecome a pokémon Master." "Mind if I tag along. It canget awful boring by myself." "Sure!" They startedto walk off waveing bye to the Pikachu. "Pikachu? Pika!Pika! Chu!" Katie felt something climbeing into her backpack. "Huh? You want to join us too Pikachu?""Pika! Pika!" With a new friend and a new Pikachu Katieheaded to Pewter City.
