(E3/A-Kon) May 27 - June 5/2005 - Playing for keeps.
QOTU: "This whole blink out of existence thing. Do that often?"
Added early A-KON stuff to the coverage! YAY!
Alien Hominid is apparently set to debut on the GBA soon in Europe. Those Europeans got Comix Zone on the GBA and now THIS? Gah. I say we invade. To quote my favorite Satoru Iwata saying: "End I lave it!"
Rejoice! The latest chapter of DON'T PANIC is up!
As well as some slight re-edits of the previous chapters for clarity
and the adding of content. For those counting, only three more chapters
remain in this series. They are as follows:
- Cosplay, Self-Respect, and Everything We Shouldn't Be Seeing. (AKA
Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Minors, But Were Forced To
Look At Anyways. AKA For God's Sake: Put On Some Real Clothes.)
- So Long And Thanks For All The Free Crap.
- Mostly Charmless. (AKA Well, That Pretty Much Wraps It Up For That.)
Each of those aforementioned articles goes into subjects like
cosplay/furries, swag collecting tips, and general information about
general things. Yes, I assure you that I will not be kind. I also
assure you that you will learn things you did not know before hand!
More articles and lots of game impressions will be up soon. We may take
forever, but we have the best and most honest coverage of the
conventions. After all, we are not advertising ourselves or our site
inside any of these games. We are going to give you honest, if not a
little mean, assessments. We love Nintendo, but we are not above
constructive criticism. Other companies though.. are fair game. Rawr.
That said, The Sony article
has been expanded. Movie and Audio files for E3 2005 have been removed.
If you missed them, please feel free to e-mail us for them. They will
be available on our first "bootleg" disc. Please stay tuned for details
on that at a future time.
Oh, the Nintendo DS was
the second best selling system the week after Golden Week. For one
week, PS2 was beating it. Then it rose again to #1 from May 15 to 22,
2005. Nintendo released their "Brain Training" educational title just
in time for testing periods and it was the #2 selling title in that
week selling 42,509 copies. That is insane. It is like someone
releasing a Cliff's Notes software game. I can see why people
would buy the studying aid; but I thought it would not sell as well as
it did. Nintendogs is still selling well. The current console sales for
that week look like this.
- Nintendo DS = 29,808
- Play Station 2 = 27,370
- Sony PSP = 24,122
- Game Boy Advance SP = 7,592
- Nintendo Game Cube = 2,403
- Game Boy Advance = 282
- Microsoft Xbox = 248
Nice to see the Nintendo DS still selling great!
Should be interesting to see how the Media Create stats look once the
Xbox 360 and Game Boy Micro are released. Do you think the Xbox 360
will take the Game Boy Advance stranglehold on sixth place? Will the
Game Boy Micro rocket to the top in sales? This Fall shall be
interesting. Thank you. Gimme?

May/June E3/A-Kon/2005 - It rumbles.
QOTU:
"Cool, your panties match the website." Hello! We're not dead!
Just combining and editing stuff. Oh, our reports on Sony and
Microsoft are up in all their controversial glory. Enjoy! I also
updated the Game Boy Micro one drastically. Almost over this cold. So,
game impressions and more later this week and next week! A-Kon coverage
is coming up!
Uploaded more images and such for YOU the reader. I also added an article into the Library. Check it out! It is NEW! Oh, game impressions are indeed coming as well as a final say on a lot of the events coming out.
More images and some little MOVIE files are in the E3 section!
Get 'em while they are up! Because after June, we disengage the holding
of them like they are indeed of a rather warm temperature. In the words
of white people: We drop it like it's hot.
We keep adding stuff to this. So, there you go! I added some content for the people in the bin sections of the website. For example: There is a a file HERE
that is our recording of Nintendo's E3 Conference. I will have detailed
critcisms and praises of it up soon. For now, please hear it. Yes, I do
diss a few games and yes.. The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
moves me to pathetic sounding tears of joy. Go check out our E3 Coverage and click on through! G4 fans will recognize some of the Squishy pictures! YAY!
Added a bit to this article!
A Reader Review of Polarium!
ANOTHER article in the E3 section!
Hey,
seen the new Xbox 360? The sides are concave to physically demonstrate
how much it sucks! Insert generic mean comment about it. Whatever, good
luck Microsoft, but I won't be buying one of your machines. Nintendo
announced a bit about the Nintendo Revolution. According to Nintendo's
own press release,
the new unit is about the size of three DVD cases stacked on top of
each other. It may be displayed horizontal or vertical and apparently
uses the same type of DVD medium that the PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 use.
So, this means it may also work as a DVD player. The system is
backwards compatible which means that it will use very similar
controllers to the Game Cube, except wireless apparently. The system
boasts "quick start-up time and quiet, low-power operation" which means
that it's most likely using a lot of copper and has garbonzo amounts of
Memory Bandwidth. They also confirm the 2006 release date.
In sweet news, I found a translation of the Metroid e-Mangas that we all loved so much. Download and enjoy them. Metroid is still one of Nintendo's best franchises ever. Although, this picture
sums up exactly how I feel about Metroid Pinball right now. Maybe when
I play it at E3, I will feel differently? I mean, I rather enjoyed
Sonic Pinball Party, but I did not like Super Mario Pinball. Oh, a
rumor has announced the following for the Nintendo DS. We'll confirm
them on Tuesday.. but these are them: Metroid Dread (A 2D game!), Mario
& Luigi 2, and Touch Golf. All for the Nintendo DS.
NEW POST AND PRAYER IN THE E3 SECTION!
Thank you. Gimme?

May 12/2005 - Yelling through the bannisters.
QOTU:
"Amygdala sounds like a Star Wars Jedi..." Quick
and dirty update tonight! First things first: A brand new S.S.U. is
right here for your perusal. Oh! Sales data from Media Create has come
in for Japan's Golden Week. Every system except for the Nintendo DS
enjoyed a slight increase in sales for the Golden Week of 25 April to
the 1st of May. The Nintendo DS sold the most units though. Here you go!
Nintendo DS = 64,247
PlayStation 2 = 40,471
PSP = 38,778
Game Boy Advance SP = 14,616
Game Cube = 6,125
Game boy Advance = 448
Xbox = 271
Not bad! Naruto 3 was the second best selling game below that new PS2
Gundam game. Nintendogs Shiba was #4, Dachs & Chihuahua were #7 and
#8 respectively. Not bad. Later! Gimme?

May 11/2005 - Strange Days..
QOTU:
"LET'S GET BIBLICAL!" More speculation has surfaced
on the presence of a new Game Boy Advance at E3. In fact, we here at
DMG Ice have already heard a name for it. The GBA MX. The MX stands for
Media Exchange. The system has a sharper screen, and an SD slot built
into it. The device integrates Play-Yan style capabilities into the
GBA. You can also upload older GB/GBC games into an SD card in ASF
format. The device supports MP3 and MPEG4 video as well as the
downloadable games in ASF format that the Play Yan supported. I own a
ton of old GB/GBC games and I kind of like the idea of being able to
have my entire GB/GBC library on an SD card along with several hours of
music. COnsidering that this rumored device is supposed to retail at
under $100, that's pretty nice. For under $170, you could buy this and
a 1GB SD Card. So, you could have one GBA game in the MX, dozens of old
GB/GBC classics like Link's Awakening, Kirby's Dream Land 2, a few
episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and all of Rush's greatest hits in
the palm of your hand at one time. Not bad. Kind of makes paying $350
to do some of the same things on a slightly bigger screen or $150 for
1GB of music on something with no screen look silly.
Of course that is all rumor and speculation.
If you own a GBA Movie Player,
the Crystal Engine is out! Encoding is now faster and specialized to
take advantages of the screen differences of the NDS and GBA. Also,
Update 18 is out. You can get them HERE.Also,
a hack of the NES emulator inside the GBA Movie Player is out so you
can support higher size ROMs. I'm not linking to that, but I like it.
I've been playing Punch-Out and Super Mario Bros. 2 on it lately. I
will link to the latest update of the GBA Movie Player Firmware and
Crystal Engine Encoder though!
Step back into more ethical things for a moment.
Crave Games has announced Bible Games for the GBA and PS2. Both games
will be available in October for $19.99 and your eternal soul. Crave's
press release states this about the GBA game.
"The Bible Game for Game
Boy Advance combines action/adventure play style with trivia
challenges. In their quest to protect the Armor of God, players may
choose to play as either Billy or Jenny across seven levels including
forest, snowy tundra, desert, and tropical island environments. Along
the way they must answer questions from both the Old and New
Testaments. Either the New International Version or King James
translation may be selected, and three levels of difficulty keep the
game accessible for all ages."
Oh, BEST GAME EVER right there.
Oh, wait. No.. probably not. Here is another game coming to the
Nintendo DS which isn't the best game ever but still fun: Black &
White Creatures. You can feed them villagers on the go now. It is also
coming to the PSP, but you don't get to touch your creatures in that
one. What good is a 500 Story Zebra if you can not tickle it?
For some reason, 500 Story Zebra's makes me think of IGN. I thought
this was amusing from their latest thing about "Most Anticipated DS
Games." What's wrong with this entry?
"Why We Picked It:
What was once Survival
Kids on the Game Boy Advance is now called Lost in Blue, an extensive
adventure where players try to survive on a deserted island. Make fire,
gather water, hunt for food...all this is necessary to remain alive.
But you won't do this alone -- you'll quickly befriend a female
castaway, where you'll both work together to live a happy life while
lost to the rest of the world."
Easy! Survival Kids was on the Game Boy COLOR,
not the Advance. The first game and the second game were on the Game
Boy COLOR. The point of the game is to get off the island, not just
live on it. Just thought I would point that out, because I actually
LIKE some of the people at IGN and when they make mistakes, it makes
the disembodied hand Nintendo sent me sad. Yup.! Gimme?

May 09-10/2005 - DON'T PANIC.
QOTU:
"I like the way that is worded." There comes a time when
we must buckle down and work toward covering a major press event. That
event is E3. So, we will begin our E3 coverage EARLY! Are you people
lucky or what? Shall I get to business then? The coverage? Well, it
starts with a bit of a bang.. or rather a slow limp out of the gate
that will deceptively become a full on stride. That said, here is the introduction article.
Aside from normal News Articles and impressions, there will be a small
series of articles refered to as our DON'T PANIC series.
Other articles will be as follows and following in the next few weeks.
Finding Food. (AKA The In N' Out At The End Of The Drive.)
The Nature Of Airports And Their Terminus.
What To Bring And Why You Brought It.
So Long And Thanks For All The Free Crap.
Cosplay, Self-Respect, and Everything We Shouldn't Be Seeing. (AKA
Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Minors, But Were Forced To
Look At Anyways. AKA For God's Sake: Put On Some Real Clothes.)
Mostly Charmless. (AKA Well, That Pretty Much Wraps It Up For That.)
Of course, there will be interviews, game previews, opinions, and
media! I am looking for people to host large files though, as we will
have video coverage this year! Anyone with a large amount of webspace
and willing to host some very interesting movie files, please contact
me with information. Thank you, very much. After E3 and A-Kon, all
videos and MP3s will be committed to Torrents and consumed in tasty
nibbles and there you have it. Our coverage is accessible from RIGHT HERE! Gimme?
