Falling off the Radar.
Have you heard? I found THIS to be truly entertaining. Anyways, let me explain something about Copyright Law. I break it. I have broken a lot of copyright laws and I will probably continue to do so. I do so in the name of PARODY. Yes, parody, no matter how vulgar, or sublime is legal. But that's not the issue in this case. You see, as much as people would like to think Nintendo is being mean; Nintendo is doing the right thing. You see, in order to actually PUBLISH (this isn't the same for internet walkthroughs, or FAQs; because they aren't in hard print format) and DISTRIBUTE NATIONALLY/INTERNATIONALLY (sell) a guide with Nintendo characters; without Nintendo's express written permission or consent. It's a rule of thumb to ASK permission. This isn't about controlling content, or whatever *bad word coming up, close your eyes briefly* "doodie" Daily Radar is saying. In fact, it's all about Imagine (NO RELATION TO SNOWBALL OR IGN!) Media not asking permission first. A stitch in time saves nine. This lawsuit went forward on the 13th of December, 2000. Imagine just needs to say: "Okay, we'll ask next time.", then pull their guides and then redistribute them. Not a huge loss. No Nintendo coverage at that place? Screw it! Here's a list of better sources of multi-system news.

See the Nifty Highlight Box!

Mario claims a victim.
What is it about this recent crop of Game Boy Color games.. Mega Man Xtreme, and Mario Tennis own me.. and even games I kinda tried to escape.. like Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, and Harvest Moon GBC 2 compel me... then I picked up Lil' Monster again.. and ohh... Viral Speak.. I got that and a Snowflake update up.. below is old news -PAW-

Cut the Croc.
Croc 2: The Legend of the Gobos comes out this week from THQ. Nifty, huh? It's a top-down action game. Not too shabby. -PAW-

PTT: THQ and 'Nifty' are two words my mind has never used in the same sentence...
Akemi: I like Croc... He's soooooo kawaii!
Philip: One of my friends at work.. really enjoyed the PSX games.. maybe too much?

Sakaguchi is my new best friend.
He's some important guy with Square or something. Big Whoop-dee doo. Oh, why am I mentioning this? Well, Square recently threw a press conference. They have essentially.. 23 new games in development.. 11 of them are remakes, you know.. FF7,8, and 9 for the vertical cup-holder known as PS2. But, who cares! 4,5, and 6 are heading to a handheld system. Hironobu Sakaguchi stated it essentially like this: "Those are impossible to do on Wonder Swan, I want them on Game Boy Advance." And you know what? I did a little dance when I found out. Yippee! FF6 on the go.. mmm... Yummy. Ooo.. even better they are planning an orginal Final Fantasy title for an unspecified handheld too. We will see. This has all been said; but it's not "confirmed". So, umm... that's basically it. Nifty. -PAW-

PTT: Wonderswan Color just got released and already it's outclassed ^_^ . Square showing interest in Nintendo rules! Bettah not be a psych-out, foos!
Akemi: Hironobu Sakaguchi.. nice name..
Philip: He's my new friend. I want him to get me a cookie...

Sony buys a Naughty Dog, no one cares.
What's this mean to Crash Bandicoot's game on the Game Boy Advance? Absolutely nothing. Because the game for the GBA is being made by Konami, not Naughty Dog. What's that mean? It means the game will be better than if Naughty Dog had made it. ;P -PAW-

PTT: All these companies pimping their mascots and games like some cheap...Pimpy thing. Is there no tradition left in the world?!? *sobs* Curse you Sony! CURSE YOU MICROSOFT!
Akemi: I don't count as DMG's mascot, right?
Philip: Nope...

Go Bezerk.
For "Hungry are the Dead". The horrible thing is.. this interview with Berserker Industries should have been up earlier, -much earlier- it got lost in my avalanche of e-mail; but I found it! So, here it is! Check it out! -PAW-

PTT: MmMMmMm..... A corpse that eats like a meal.
Akemi: Ah yum, rotting flesh... tasty.
Philip: I hunger...

Sweet Dreams are made of these.
I think we mentioned before a long time ago; but sleep peacefully knowing Sega is out there working on GBC/GBA projects as we speak. Isn't that lovely? You know... Square and Enix are rivals. Enix will release Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 around the same time of the Game Boy Advance and Wonderswan Final Fantasy 2. As I can recall... if Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6 end up on GBA, you can bet money that Enix will follow suit with Dragon Warrior 4, 5, and 6. *sifts through notes* Oh, what's this? Currently a rumor; but it looks like Natsume may be planning to rerelease their old Super Nintendo RPG Lufia (The first one, not the upcoming "Lufia: Ruins Chaser") for the GBA. Well, the more the merrier. It looks like we have a major fight welling up over on the GBA. I mean, if Dragon Warrior 4, Final Fantasy 4, and Golden Sun had to duke it out.. who would win? I mean, for all we know, Sega could very well be planning (hehehe) Shining Force or Phantasy Star. Then what would we do? We'd go broke. That's what we would do. YAY! -PAW-

PTT: Will assassinate for games ^_^
Akemi cracks her knuckles and gets into her stance.
Philip takes out his Sword of Much Thickness and Power.

Yeah, whatever.
Oh, remember those rumors of Kirby's Tilt N' Tumble being turned into a Pokemon game? Heh. Did you actually believe those? Or were you like me and thought. "Naw." Anyways, in case you never preordered it through our STORE a while back, you can still go ahead and preorder it. It comes out in April. On a Metroid note, the new word is that it won't be a SNES port. Uh huh. Anways, until you see screenshots.. you get the picture. I still think it will be a port. -PAW-

PTT: Gaijin programmer no touchie pink puffy goodness! Kirby stay! :)
Akemi: Puffy... just like Phil. *grins*
Philip blushes.

Stop N' Swap us!
Hey, what's up? Well, not much over here in the newsity department. But I added more reader reviews, and I would like to comment that I like music and there will be more updates this weekend to 6th Circle MP3 as well as a few interviews I've got in the works. BWA HA HA! Oh, the point of this article is to say that I put up some more reviews. You'll see some more later this weekend as well. Also, I'm leaving up the newsity from yesterday. 'Kay? -PAW-

Akemi groans and goes to get more ice for her shoulder.
Squirtish: Yummy!  Old stale Newsity!
Philip: Stale? Naw.. CRISPY.

Rumours?
Heh.. not much is a rumour anymore.. darn rumours come true before they get to be rumours very long. Oh, well. Here's an interesting one.. Infogrames has an unannounced Smurfs game in the works for the Game Boy Advance. 30% of the Game Boy Advance's first year software will be Super Nintendo Ports. That's another one. Magi Nation 2 is gonna be on the GBA, well.. from what the rumour birdies say. Also, we're gonna see some odd rythm and music games for the GBA. Not a bad deal. -PAW-

Akemi comes back with an iced shoulder.  Rumors are bad.  M'kay.
Squirtish:  Which rumour?  The one about the Foppies?  That's untrue, flagrantly untrue!  Oh...  Smurfs... Never mind then.
Philip: Actually.. I hesitate to ask.

Good Newsity, Bad Newsity.
Sega confirmed it; they will be making software for the Game Boy Advance. They also said they are looking into making games for the PS2. Yuck. Why waste their time on that tawdry skank of a system when the Nintendo Game Cube offers connectivity to the Game Boy Advance and the MicroSquat XBox has superior hardware to the PS2? Oh, well. At least we get Sonic on Game Boy Advance and continued Dreamcast support all the way into 2002. We will see. I still play my Genesis 3. Also, I welcome any announcement that means we could see the Fastest Thing Alive in a REAL Sega portable game. (The previous NGPC game was made by SNK under a liscense by Sega.) Actually, before they go making a new Sonic game.. gimme some ports of Sonic 1,2,3 and Sonic and Knuckles. Please? -PAW-

Hbomb: Mmm.... SONIC(TM)!!! And S&K for GBA needs to have the Lock-on cart to combine with Sonic 2 & 3.
Akemi: Knuckles.  He's so kyoot...
Philip: My fave Sonic the Hedgehog character was Bunni from the series and Spinball.

Use your Magi-Nation.
You like MP3s? Good! I updated the 6th Circle MP3 with two more MP3s from Magi Nation. Which will be out in late February. The Magi Nation Card Game is the THIRD top-selling card game. Right under Pokemon (#1) and Magic: The Gathering (#2). Not bad at all! Our preview of this title is right here. The company behind the game, Interactive Imagination, also has a Game Boy Advance liscense.. so.. now we will have MORE RPGs to want on GBA. Because.. you KNOW they will make one. -PAW-

Hbomb: Helloooooooooooooooooooooooo Akemi!!!!
Akemi: Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo Hbomb!!!
Philip: Hellooooooooooooooooooooooo Slack Monkey!
Slack Monkey sits there silently thinking Slack Monkey thoughts, and not participating in a Slack Monkey way.

Bridget will like this.
Well, if she wasn't trapped by an evil psychic monster, she'd be thrilled. Nintendo announced a sequel to Pokemon: The Trading Card game. It has more to it. Twice as many cards, 40 new opponents added onto the original 50 and well.. it's gonna rock your strategic self. Oh, yeah. It comes out this Summer in Japan. Yippee! We might see it by December over here, around the time we will see Pokemon Crystal.. I suppose? -PAW-

Hbomb: Helloooooooooooooooooooooo Bridget (I know she'd like that!)!!!!!!
Akemi:  Sexy trainers?  Yes no?
Philip: In a perfect world, I could walk up to a girl, say "Show me your deck!" and she would lay all her cards on the table -no questions asked- and we would engage in awesome strategic gameplay.

Hey.. you like reviews?
I like reviews. I have a few on my Hard drive and I'll add more later; but tonight I am adding just two. NOW we have 900 reviews of Game Boy games and products up. Yes, the reviews are reader reviews for Final Fantasy Adventure and Great Greed. Great Greed has the unusual record of being the best reviewed game. You see, Great Greed has had four previous reviews and all four have given it 100%. Will the fifth review ruin this streak? Dunno.. go read. Anyways, both of these games are available in our Buy the Best store thing. ^_^ Go check it out. they may be used; but so what? Also on an odd note, the Final Fantasy Adventure review is our SECOND review of the game. Only TWO reviews of the game? Woah. That's weird. I expected to find more. -PAW-

Hbomb silently sits there thinking Hbomb thoughts.
Akemi tickles Hbomb.
Philip runs from the impending explosion.

Sugar for everyone.
Cookies galore in Viral Speak... read it all for the cookie! -PAW-

Hbomb eats all the cookies: Not anymore!
Akemi: I did it all for the cookie, the cookie, so you could take that cookie, and stick it up your...
Philip: ...cookie jar.

Quote of the Update: "Perfect example of why Yamauchi is secretly bernie Stolar...."
See the Nifty Highlight Box!

God Save Us All...
Hiroshi Yamauchi spoke recently in an interview with Bloomberg in Japan. What did the typically evil guy have to say? Well, he said that Sega is working with Nintendo on Game Boy Advance games. Then he said this: "We haven't contracted Square to work on our consoles, and we have no plans to negotiate such a contract in the future. The possibility of reviving our relationship in the future is doubtful." That means.... jack squat. He may be the President of Nintendo; but he's honestly not the final word in any of these. He didn't like the idea of a new Metroid game. We're getting a new Metroid game. He said there wouldn't ever be a Nintendo fighting game. *holds up a copy of Super Smash Bros.* He also said that Nintendo would "never, ever" work with Sega. He also didn't like Conker's Bad Fur Day, or remakes of old NES games. But let's look at this in a reasonable way. Yamuchi is a senile, 73 year old person who "runs" Nintendo. Uh huh. Right. -PAW-

Adrock: When he said that, you can't be sure of just who he was representing or who came to agreement on this. I'm sure if Square made legitimate offers, Nintendo would let them in with open arms.
Philip: Poor guy must have run out of the blue pills?

Quote of the Update: "Forgive my insolence, Old Man."
See the Nifty Highlight Box!

Hmm.. Interesting.
I know you're wondering HOW Yamauchi (Pronounced YA-MO-KEY) could say what he did. I hope this explanation helps. He has been in the business since it's inception and from the start Nintendo has frowned at Multi-Console development. It's a matter of honor actually. The video game industry in Japan is more honor than the capitalistic American and European markets. Nintendo had a fit when Capcom developed a game for the Genesis. (Street Fighter Championship Edition) Nintendo also did not think it was "honorable". Nintendo demands "dedication". While this is changing to some extent with larger companies such as Capcom, Konami, THQ, Namco, and a few more. It is not the same with Square. You see, Square is in financial bust right now. Nintendo of Japan is treating Square like a son who has come begging for forgiveness because he is in trouble; not because he seeks forgiveness or to be beneficial. When Square left the fold for Sony, Nintendo took it like this: "You have chosen Sony, go and do as you wish." When Square's profits plummeted under Sony. (Due in part to extremely high budget flops and games.) Many Square employees defected. Companies like Alpha Dreams, Brownie Brown, Interactive Imagination (Started by a Square USA "defector"), and more. Nintendo welcomed those because they were new companies, think "defecting generals". Another way of saying this is that Nintendo has a boat for Square. A brand new, shiny one. Square is on a sinking boat. They want to prevent from drowning, so they cling to EA for support; but that is not enough. They are still sinking. So, they are asking Nintendo to throw them a few life jackets to keep their heads afloat. Nintendo is saying: "No, come out of the water, unhook some of those ropes attached to your boat and get on our boat where it is dry." Square is saying "No. We want to remain in the water, and we just want some life jackets." Nintendo replies: "You have no sense. You may be better off drowned." Got it? Now, the only way for Square to get back with Nintendo is to announce an original Game Cube and Game Boy Advance game. Then, promise ports of FFXI, and FFXII for NGC. It's better for Square to go ahead and do that. The problem isn't Nintendo.. it's Square. But where does that leave us? Well, expect to see Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6 on Game Boy Advance. Just expect them to say "Developed by EA" (Or Sunsoft/Eidos) -PAW-

Adrock: Square is picking and choosing who they want to do stuff for. It's kinda funny.
Ice Blue: Yes... kinda funny when their support for a system was partly why the N64 didn't do so well.
Philip: Actually, I think lack of a CD based medium was why the N64 wasn't as "successful" even though it's games still out-sold many PSX games.

Fuedally Speaking.
Sega was a Fuedal Dynasty with a large battle ship. Now, they have a smaller battle ship; but wish to board other ships and share their cargo. The PoS2 is getting a PORT. HA! HA! Whereas the Game Boy Advance is getting an original SONIC game. Yes, Sonic is coming to Game Boy Advance. YAY! Why is Nintendo letting the former Battle Ship owners board their ship? The battle ship guns aren't aimed at them. Simple enough. But I'm thrilled. Why? Because Sonic can run, he can fly, he can reach the other side of the rainbow. Will you see Sonic running around on PS2? Most likely.. NO. Rest easy. The battleships are quiet. -PAW-

Adrock: What's with all the boat references?
Ice Blue: Philip is jealous of all the people with big boats... like me and you. ;)
Philip: I like big boats and I can't deny.

EAGBA
It's not a new pop group. (Thank GOD!) It's just that EA has announced that they will support the GBA. With a total of Four Sports titles, yay. Oh, check out this link to IGN Pocket. -PAW-

Ice Blue: Nintendo made more money from publishing than EA... two times, more in fact.  Nearly a billion dollars.
Philip: But why have a Trillion, when you can have a BILLION!

Like Viral Speak?
Sure you do. Here. A gift. -PAW-
