Get yer AC UP.
Time
to break out the AC UP. AC UP is a term I give to "ACtive UPdates". In
other words, all the way through December 31st, 1999 and to January 1st,
2000. I'll be.. actively updating. In other words, I don't sleep tonight.
I stay in #blue and work on the site, only the site. As I update sections..
I update the newsity. Why? To get a lot of stuff I need to get done.. done.
See, it's GOOD. AC UP. Love it and worship it. And keep checking back.
We will update continually until.. either my computer blows up.. or I get
tired and can no longer go on. -PAW-
2 NEW reviews!
Well,
let's see... WWF Wrestlemania 2000, and.. here's a little story. We had
a review of the first Dragon Ball Z game for the Game Boy; but the person
who wrote the review informed me that he found out that the cartridge was
not an original cartridge. :( But, here's the good news.. we now have a
review of a legit copy of "Dragon Ball Z" Okay, it's the second game; but
it's a tad less impossible to find and it's a cool review. Our readers
rock into the Year 2000.-PAW-

news. I'll give you a recap of the New Years damage. Just for thought.
This January 1st we had... 6 reviews, the Goldthingies, an exclusive New
Years Day MST from the Dawn Spawn, 1 new preview, Pokédex, Buy the
Best and.. well.. it's good. Very good. And.. I fixed up the News Archives.

On a minor note.. The Bin went un-updated today. But.. iMuse updated with

of the Update: "Future behind." - A #blue thingie... don't ask.
Announced and stuff.
Umm. I added TWO new reviews,
and I'm working hard on my Game and Watch Gallery 3 review. My Game and
Watch Gallery 3 review will be big. I hope to break my previous review
size record. (Which was Pokémon Red/Blue at about 15 kb!) That's
why it takes me a while to finish up reviews.. I try to go.. big. And speaking
of BIG. I'm announcing a new series of Editorial content. The first "series"
of in-depth, fancy editorials will be on "Game Boy Myths". Mostly things
that people say that annoy me. First up.. if you clicked on that Metro
3D interview.. you'll notice that he mentions the myth that Game Boy has
an audience that would probably not buy "mature" Game Boy games and that
no one expects them to be "mature". Also, I see a lot of little biters
calling the Game Boy a "kiddie system". So.. I compiled a list of mature
games for Game Boy. So far.. it's pretty easy to find and list "mature"
titles that don't stink. I intend to finish it up; make it pretty, and
then send that URL out to a lot of Game Boy publishers. Why? Because we
want and deserve content that isn't.. "watered-down". I'm very adament
on censorship; and I dislike it. I hate the fact that people believe that
something must be form fitted for the public. Anyways, we have a review
of a French Language Translator, and.. Ballistic!. The two culprits of
these reviews... dM97, and.. the mysterious.. Paul. Beware.. ooh! Oh, and
no one in the USA, or in Cuba would be up in arms for that kid; if CNN
had not broadcasted it all over the air that the kid survived. If they
hadn't done that.. the kid would be with his relatives in Florida and his
dad would be working the salt mines in Cuba without a second thought. That's
my opinion on it.. -PAW-
Infinity_Yak:
Don't dis the Cuban system until you've seen it. Cuba's probably
better off under Castro then they were under Batista. They merely
exchanged one dictator who didn't mind exploiting his people to wealthy
American playboys, for one that actually believed in something (however
crazy he is). By no means am I validating Communism, Socialism, Marxism,
etc... I just think it's good to get another opinion into the spotlight.
Besides, if America took over Cuba, their Cigars would start sucking, and
cuban girls wouldn't be nearly as cool (YAK
PIC!). And yes, that is me, in Cuba, dancing with a genuine
contraband Cuban girl, just last February! Enough political ranting...
Back to GAMEBOY news ;) I think the GBC is a system for mature gamers,
because I'm a mature gamer, and I've never touched a monster-training game.
Adrock:
CNN is evil.
Philip:
I probably have cousins in Cuba. I have like.. tons of cousins in Spanish
speaking places... she's probably one of my cousins.. who knows..

of the Update: "Falling apart"
Good Gnus
Nintendo of Japan has allied
with Cygnus Solutions to provide GNU programming tools for Game Boy Advanced.
GNU is an "open-sourced" language. Think... not Unix, and not Linux. It's..
GNU. GNU stands for "Gnu's Not Unix". What this means.. is that the Game
Boy Advanced can be programmed for in a variety of ways and styles. What
can you do with GNU? Everything from "NURBS" to C++ to Perl. Yes.. it's
a very.. open programming system. You can use tons of tricks. And it makes
me wonder a bit.. did you know that "Quake" was programmed from a GNU language?
The catch with all of this is that -if Nintendo of Japan intends to use
these like planned- the source code for games done with a GNU base must
be made available to people who wish to see it. In other words; if you
made a game with GNU.. you need to print the source code you used to make
it. Why is this? So that the code and any unique tricks can be shared and
implemented. It means, that if you made an awesome 3-D engine on Game Boy
Advanced; another company may see the code -if you sell the game- and use
the code to create a similar game; or modify it to work better. The free-lance
world of Game Boy programmers are going to go nuts with this. The bad thing
is that the idea of shared source code.. allows tons of games to be made.
Oh, wait... that's not bad. Anyways, I should also mention that GNU is
rather.. fast. It can do 3-D easily, and be manipulated to do fancy things
really well. In plain, broken English: "GNU good-good. Make plenty good
games!" -PAW-
Ice
Blue: (in ebonics)Da GNU flippin' dope games, yo! It be
trippin', G!
Ice Blue gets shot.
Philip:
He's dead! *Insert gratuitous South Park joke*
Adrock:
I wanna... take Quake with me.
Enough, already!
Anyways, Burger King once
again secured Pokémon rights. The next promotion starts in March.
I want a Lugia Beanie... that would rule. Nothing like an evil, dark, flying
serpent and the End of the World in a Kid's Meal. Unfortunately... I don't
think they will include the Pokéballs of death. *Insert collective
whine* Anyways, that's coming soon.. and a new soundtrack/sample/single
thingie is due out in February. -PAW-
Ice
Blue's ghost: It's true... "Pokémon = Cash Cow"... is
that good or bad?

MP3 Boy!
Wanna play MP3 on your Game
Boy? Why not? Check this release! We at DMG Ice are devoted to this and
are very pleased with the idea of playing MP3 on Game Boy Color. In fact,
I can hardly wait. We'll work on creating something for you all to download
in the MP3 or MPE format.. sooner or later.. it'll be cool. I already pre-ordered
mine. You should too. I mean.. for $99 with a 16 megabyte RAM; plus the
ability to buy expansions in 32 Meg.. this thing may be enough to kick
the Diamond Rio. -PAW-
Adrock:
I have near a gig full of mp3s... so... this should be interesting.
Ice
Blue: I think it's dumb how only the first 10,000 get free songs
from the site... I mean, come on, who in their right mind would pay
for MPEs (the format they will use)? You can't even play that on
the comp without the right software! I'd rather rip my own MP3s...
Philip:
The free songs are a promotion. But, the MPE format is supported by a lot
of the latest devices. The MPE files display graphics as well as sound.
As for paying for a specialized MPE? Think of it as getting a song and
a music video in one. It has potential and for the sense of fairness; I
would pay up to $3 for a song from a up-and-coming artist.

Gotta catch them all!
Okay. You gotta twirl your
pole a little like that; then let the hook fly. make sure you have some
good bait; or you won't get any bass. Well, in the quest to get some bass;
two new reviews have been added! I didn't put up a review yesterday; because..
I was reviewing the same game at the time and felt it would be cool to
toss them both into the water at the same time. What am I talking about?
The Legend of the River King of course! It's a Game Boy Color game that
is worth a look or two. And here are TWO new reviews of the same game!
Gotta love that whole second opinion thing. Don't flounder around here;
go see the reviews! Get some bass tonight! Everyone needs to get some bass.
Or rather... umm.. just go see the reviews. Q-Bone and "The Avardancer"
in the reviews. Good. -PAW-

This is The BIN. Love the BIN.
The BIN.. I don't talk about
it much.. but I should. Today.. I have a lot of new reviews and most of
them are for The Bin. For the normal Reviews.. I have a review of the Mega
Memory Card and a light review of.. "Boomer's Adventures in Asmik World"
for Game Boy! But, The Bin.. which is for reviews of other handheld systems
got a big update! Let's see... Wario Land VB review from Adrock. .and I
sat down to review the Game.Com, Sonic Jam for the Game.Com, and the "controversial"
Neo Geo Pocket Color... it should be interesting.. and.. I updated the
iMuse. -PAW-
Adrock:
Philip wants to put me in the Bin.

Not yet.. I haven't grafted an LCD screen into him yet... bwa ha ha!

he could be the 5th Teletubbie!

A little word on the action
figure Togepi. The talking one is funny as all get out. Get this one and
the Meowth one.. then set them together, and clap your hand. When they
both respond.. the Meowth has a long enough phrase to make the Togepi keep
responding.. it's a little spooky.. |
