08/25/2005 - Freshness Vibrations.
QOTU: "Ex Nihlo Pluribus Glomp"
So, whatcha think?Check
this fresh look! Well, I said there would be changes. Expect more
changes in September! Lots of news to recap and to break as well! In
case you live under a rock, you may have noticed that several things
have happened! Sony released their new Crippleware 2.0 update for the
Sony PSP to all sorts of no one caring. Nintendo sold 100,000+ Nintendo
DS units the week that Jump Super Stars came out. Capcom announced a
"retouch" of the original Resident Evil. This new Resident Evil molds,
pokes, slides, and rubs the original Resident Evil into a portable form
with new areas, new enemies, new weapons, new story points, new WiFi
modes, and just generally new zombie madness. The game is called
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence and it will be out for the Nintendo DS
next year around the Tenth Anniversary of the original zombie hugging
Play Station game. Since I have been watching old Nintendo Propoganda
lately, let me say this: "Can you playthis game on Sony PSP?" "NOOOPE!
Only on Nintendo DS!" You can, however, watch a crappy Resident Evil
movie sequel on the PSP.
Nintendo has discontinued the Game Boy Advance Play-Yan.
They are releasing a similar device called the Play-Yan Micro which has
MP4 readability straight out of the box without the use of a patch. It
also has a slightly cleaned up and altered user interface. The new
Play-Yan Micro can not play old Play-Yan Garage Games. Garage Games was
the name given to about 12 different -and tiny- games you could
download in ASF format and play on the Play-Yan. I think Nintendo
intends to release all of these simple, tiny games in a future game
title. Maybe they will be hidden in the next Wario Ware, Game &
Watch, or Digitylish titles?
Nintendo is not the only company updating their movie player.
The company behind the GBA Movie Player is releasing their e19 update
-which supports the new conversion software, adds shuffle to the music
options, and adds long file name support- before the end of the month.
There is also a third version of the movie player coming out that you
may want to take a look at. Here is the link to that one.
And for yet another update, Puy Pop Fever is getting a sequel in Japan!
Let us hope it comes out over here in the USA. Nintendo has also
delayed Metroid Prime Hunters into 2006 as well as confirming that the
Rumble Option Pak for the Nintendo DS will ship with the release of
Metroid Prime Pinball this October. Also out on October 11 is Trauma
Center: Under the Knife. Oh! actual content? I will have some actual
content up in a bit. For now, you will have to make do with chapter 5
of Don't Panic! You can check it out now right here! That would be about it for now. More later! - - |

08/18/2005 - A bit micro-erotic.
QOTU: "Why the Carib?!"
Some more details have thus been revealed
on the Game Boy Micro. Apparently, you can not use the original GB/GBC
game software on it. Nintendo mentions this on the spec sheet at their
site. However, the site also mentions that the chipset for the device
is exactly the same. It would appear the only two things preventing the
use of GB/GBC games in the unit, would be the voltage output and the
color/screen size management routine in the GBA hardware. So, if any
third party companies want to make a small voltage converter that would
supply those specific subroutines, it would be appreciated. Oh, the
product name for the Game Boy Micro is OXY-001. Not sure what that
stands for, actually. It could be that the Game Boy line is radically
changing and that this is a bit of "air" before the next unit? That
news aside, each of the regions is getting something different when the
Micro launches in them.

Interesting stuff, huh?
Nintendo says they expect to sell 4 million units of the Game Boy Micro
before the end of the fiscal year. The fiscal year ends on March 31,
2006. Today is just a quick update, so just one review has been added.
A review for an epic game named Riviera: The Promised Land. Check it out!
Oh, September is coming, and with the introduction of the Micro, we
will be doing a slight redesign to better serve you. Nothing too major,
just some convenience issues and suggestions. Do not fret, I will not
turn the buttons into an evil drop down menu or anything like that. - -
08/14/2005 - Previously Balanced.
QOTU: "Wrong forceps, Angie."
Quick run down on the news, for those who want to know!
The Nintendo DS may drop in price to $129.99 on the week of August
21, 2005. Oh, Black and White colored DS units are expected to hit
stores in time for Christmas. Slate and Opal are the names given to
them right now. Should be interesting. Right now, that bit is making
the rounds among retailers. Will it be a black and white Christmas? Oh,
I hope so!
The Game Boy Micro will be in the USA in time for Christmas. It
looks like Japan and Europe (!) will be getting the device first. For
the rest of this article, all references to the GBA will be replaced
with references to the Game Boy Micro. (GBM)
Nintendo and Game Freak announced new Pokemon games. Those titles are as follows. For the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Micro.
Pokemon Torouze (GET! Pokemon) = Looks like a Zoo Keeper game with
Pokemon characters, but there's hope that it may -instead- play like
Panel De Pon. (Tetris Attack) - Nintendo DS
Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon Blue (Pokemon: The Wondrous Blue Dungeon) =
Like Chunsoft's other wondrous dungeon games, this is a straight
forward dungeon crawling RPG with randomly generated levels. It
interacts with the GBM RED version. - Nintendo DS
Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon Red (Pokemon: The Wondrous Red Dungeon) =
Same as the Blue one, but different levels, storyline. It interacts
with the DS BLUE version. - Nintendo DS
All three games will be out this Winter in Japan. American dates for the games have not been announced. Speaking of announcements; Capcom stated that Battle Network 6 (Mega Man EXE in Japan) will be
the end of the EXE/Battle Network series. In other words, Capcom is
finishing the series storyline! I hope that they do that someday with
Mega Man Zero.
The master of this site has just turned 25 as of August 12, 2005. Much rejoicing?! Well,
actual content will be up soon! In fact, people will be surprised.
Also, Season 1 of Life in Puzzle for the Game Boy Advance Movie Player
is almost complete! It has additional scenes as well as a "trailer" for
the second season! A lot of site content has been slightly delayed by
the receiving of a reviewable copy of Atlus' upcoming dose of awesome
known as Trauma Center: Under The Knife. Needless to say, this game is
more effective than sleep and vodka in preventing me from updating. You
better rush out and pre-order this game. I already have two copies
pre-ordered. One for myself, and one for my younger sister. You see,
this game is so good, I am buying it twice. You'll see some more
detailed impressions in the next Viral Speak and we'll be talking to
Atlus about the game in a long form interview soon. Trauma Center is
AWESOME. The storyline is as deep and interesting as many RPGS. The
gameplay is light at first, but later on becomes very intense. You
finish a level and you feel as if you have just accomplished an
extra-ordinary feat. I can not hype this game enough. With Lost in
Blue, Nintendogs, Advance Wars 3, and more coming out; the Nintendo DS
is the system to own. Games like Trauma Center could NOT be done with
as much intensity or passion on the Sony PSP or the home consoles.
Needless to say, just BUY this game. For those wondering, I just had my
family purchase a few special orders I had in, so I got mostly anime on
my birthday. Picked up that sweet Invader Zim House Box which includes
the UNCUT Christmas episode as well as the audio for unfinished
episodes. Picked up a few bargain games at Target as well. Picked up
Ice Climbers for $7 and Shaman King: Master of Spirits for $10.
Needless to say, NES Classics are great and I love them. Master of
Spirits is Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for the E rated set and at the
price I bought it, well worth picking up. Final polish on my Riviera
review is almost complete. So, please look forward to awesome. - -
08/04/2005 - Babies come from Sega.
QOTU: "Like the real thing, but with better sound effects."
Thank you, Sega!
The sequel to I would Die For You, will be called "Where Do Babies Come
From?" in Japan at least. I Would Die For You was the Japanese name for
Feel The Magic XX/XY. The European name was Project Rub. Personally, I
am THRILLED about this sequel, because I loved the first game.
Apparently the Game Boy Micro is set for September 13, 2005 in
Japan. ALso out that day, will be Mario Tennis Advance, 20th
Anniversary Super Mario Bros., Polarium GBA, and a puzzle game two pack
of Panel De Pon (Tetris Attack) and Dr. Mario. As for other games on
the way? Neverland (nothing to do with Peter Pan or that other fruit)
has announced that they are developing a new GBA RPG in Japan called
Frontier Stories. Neverland developed Egg Monster Heroes and Shining
Force Neo. They also made a few Lufia games, and the awful Rengoku:
Tower of Purgatory for the PSP. Oh, Nintendo announced that they're
doing another Fusion Tour this year. The Game Boy Micro will be on
display at it. The Legend of Zelda will be playable at it. There will
be bands there too, but they are not as important as The Legend of
Zelda or the Game Boy Micro.
Also, aside from sales data reconfirming the Nintendo DS
dominance in Japan, there has not been much news. Nintendo has a press
conference on the 17th in Europe that may give some more details about
their Revolution home console, but since I am more concerned with
handhelds, that is not really news to me. Oh, just wanted to remind
everyone that Nanostray is out and I've been playing it a lot recently.
It is more good stuff from Shin'en. Nintendogs and Advance Wars 3 are
all out this month. So, BUY THEM. Well, back to sleep!- -
