Alone in the Dark: Darkworks Baby Exposed
"Is that REALLY Game Boy Color?"
By now, you've seen Alone in the Dark for Game Boy Color. It looks like this.

What do you think? Well, here's a closer look at this game -from Darkworks and Infogrames, coming Winter 2001-

Alone in the Dark is a Survival Horror Game. Anyways, it looks good right? Too good to be on Game Boy Color, you say? Well, eat those words. Remember those pre-rendered sequences in Tomb Raider? The backgrounds in Donkey Kong Country? This is completely possible. As it is useing the GBC's "hidden" 2000 onscreen colors mode. The game is running on the Game Boy Color's Development equipment.. or rather.. the "Wideboy2".. most likely. In other words.. this is completely possible and the game will look this way when you buy it in stores. Here's a side by side thingie to look at.

The screenshot. The Screenshot at the proper GBC Screen size.
The Screenshot. The Screenshot as if it were a Game Boy Advanced game.. which it is NOT.
When I first heard about the game.. I thought it would look like this and be a port of the old PC game. This shot uses 32 colors. Or... about half of the GBC's normal 52 colors on-screen. This is what it looks like.. boy was I wrong. And it's a port of the NEW game.
One more time for good measure. What I thought it would look like... What it looks like.
Previously Canceled game: Resident Evil. Alone in the Dark -Resident Evil's Daddy-
Resident Evil again. Alone in the Dark again.
Because I can not resist... "Superior 16-Bit" Neo Geo Pocket Color game: "Metal Slug 2". "Inferior 8-Bit" Game Boy Color game: "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare".
Dreamcast game: "Resident Evil: Code Veronica" Game Boy Color game: "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare".

And there we have it.. I hope you enjoyed this... game look good... Game Boy deceptively fantastic.  -PAW-
