April 29/2005 - Field of Flowers.
QOTU:
"And it was spiffy, the end." An interesting thing was pointed out about the sales data that was recently given out. It turns out that the Nintendo DS outsold all the other systems, COMBINED.
That is nice. Nintendo put out a press release recently to announce
that over 200,000 Nintendo DS units have been sold in the United
Kingdom alone. Worldwide sales for the Nintendo DS surpassed 5 MILLION
in the middle of March. Not bad! I also recieved a release from a
company called Compact Power Systems.
They make a device called CellBoost which is a disposable mini power
supply for cell phones. They have one in development for the Nintendo
DS and GBA SP that they will show off at E3 in conjunction with Dream Gear.
The product plugs into the power port on the DS or GBA SP and allows
you to charge and/or play your system for 6 more hours. You may use the
device in increments or all at once. It can be thrown away afterwards.
This leads me to believe that the device will be inexpensive. They will
also unveil one for the PSP at E3. I will have details on this device
at the show. Should be neat! Gimme?

April 28/2005 - I just wasn't made for these times.
QOTU:
"I can see the new rash of school violence where disenchanted students
attempt to roll their schools into stars with tennis balls." Media Create confirmation is in!
In the terms of the street: Peep this mad phat numbers, G! They be
stupid fresh to the max! Ahem. First off: Console sales numbers for the
sales week of 4/18/2005 to 4/24/2005!
DS = 96,191
PS2 = 33,080
PSP = 33,004
GBASP = 10,820
GC = 8,329
GBA = 422
Xbox = 112
The DS beat the PS2 and the PSP sales combined.
A few things factor into this though. First off, Pink and Blue DS units
showed up on the shelves and those sold well. The PSP is only in black
because Sony has trouble with diversity. Secondly, Nintendogs and
Naruto came out that week. Check out the top 10 games in terms of sales!
1. Romancing Saga (PS2) = 216,904
2. Fire Emblem (GC) = 102,073
3. NARUTO 3 (DS) = 84,195
4. Nintendogs(Shiba!) (DS) = 82,585
5. Nintendogs(Dachs!) (DS) = 52,563
6. Nintendogs (Chih!) (DS) = 45,826
7. Baseball Live 2005 (PS2) = 43,852
8. Mega Man Zero 4 (GBA) = 37,973
9. MS Gunadam (PS2) = 29,592
10. Some racing game (PSP) = 29,473
There you have it.
I wasn't sure what the real name of the PSP racing game was because the
name translates to "Capital city high battle." Anyone know? Shiba's
rule the Nintendogs days! This is before Famitsu's perfect score and
Japan's "Golden Week" of sales. Sales usually increase three fold
during Golden Week, that fact combined with the Famitsu score will lead
Nintendogs to some very promising sales. Shame that Electroplankton did
not sell this well. I think a lot of people need to buy Nintendogs,
maybe those virtual puppies can cheer up some of the people who were
affected by the recent train tragedy. Maybe name your Nintendog
Hachikou (Hachiko) in memory of those who died? I think that kind of
dedication could be meaningful. The sales stats are straight from Media
Create. Of interesting note is that Hachikou was an Akita, which is a
distinctly Japanese breed. A Shiba is one of the closer branches of the
same family of dog. Considering this, the high sales of Shiba &
Friends is understandable. Shiba's are also damn cute. Nintendogs will
be called Puppy Times in the US market and that is just fine with me.
Nintendogs is an essential showing
of the type of deep, yet simple and universally appealing, games that
Nintendo has in mind for the Nintendo DS. This means that more
traditional games will end up on the GBE. I think that the two systems
will be able to co-exist in this fashion perfectly. The Nintendo DS
being more casual in nature and the GBE being more of a hardcore game
system with graphics above and beyond the PSP. Puppy Times is expected
to hit the USA in September with promotional advertisements running low
key in October, and heavy promotion with additional merchandise this
November and December season. Give the gift of a new puppy this
Christmas. Touch and Discover Puppy Times. More Update goodness later! Gimme?

April 27/2005 - Still Burning
QOTU: "And then Adam would live in my tool shed... or maybe Hbomb.. which one makes a better zombie?" Baby, please stay, we can make it through another day.
We can burn like the Northern Lights, maybe. Or whatever! Oh, news! You
want news? Nintendo announced more DS downloads for Japan, including a
coy of Hikaru Utada's puppy "Shin-Chan." I think she should have named
her puppy Tabata, or Taro-Kun. Oh, well. They also have demos of Brain
Training, Caduceus (Trauma Center: Under the Knife in the USA), and
Goemon DS. If they keep doing these DS download releases, it may
eventually not be news. On the subject of Nintendogs, early reports on
sales for the game make it appear that it has sold more than 400,000
units since release. We'll wait for Media Create's stats on that one
for confirmation. The other thing I'm looking at on my desk is a few
scans of the Famitsu (Normal, not Cube + Advance) review of Nintendogs.
Oddly enough, it's the first DS game to score a perfect 40. In other
words, it kicked the collective ass of everything out this year.
Considering that Nintendogs is the fifth or sixth game to get a perfect
score in Famitsu Weekly since Famitsu's inception over ten years ago,
that is pretty impressive. Over the years, a few games have gotten
perfect scores.
Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (GC)
Vagrant Story (PS1)
I'm pretty sure there was one more game that got a perfect score.
I forgot what it was though. Most of the best games get *maybe* 35 or
more. Meteos on the DS got a 38 if you remember the news on that. No
PSP games have gotten a 40. Gran Turismo always scores in the upper 34+
but has never recieved a perfect Famitsu score. The PSP launches in
Europe in September for 249 Euro ($324USD) for those who want to pay a
first class price for a second place system with second place games.
Oh! I have uploaded a NEW VIRAL SPEAK for the people. Rejoice, the people!
Nintendo has announced their press conference
and I have gotten a bit of events for the E3 convention! Here we go,
let me find it in my stack of stuff. He he. Ah! Copy/Paste!
May 17, 9:00 a.m. – Nintendo of America Media Briefing
Location: Hollywood & Highland (Hollywood, CA)
Same place, same mall, the REVOLUTION begins there.
Thankfully, the Metroline goes to the Revolution. Other hot events are
Atlus' holding a Puyo Pop DS Tourney as well as drawings for iPod
Shuffles every single day. Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel will be at E3
again in all his cheap-ass over-rated glory. I've never played against
him, because I'm sure he's memorized the maps of whatever shooter they
have him play this year. Yeah, I could totally own his ass on Tetris
and -unlike FPS games- Tetris is educational. It takes BRAIN skills.
The Wayans Brothers will be all over E3 this year, showing off some
game for cell phones. Dear Lord, give me the patience of a saint with
those people. I've got some words from other companies, apparently Seth
McFarlane may make the show, I will be sure to kick him in the shins
for the good of television! THQ will have some wrestlers at their
booth. One of them is a rapping white guy named John Cena and the other
is a modestly hot WWE "Diva" named Stacy Keibler. She has a background
in dance, just like my younger sisters. Personally, I wouldn't mind
asking her about her years of dancing, former cheerleader days, and if
she would ever consider turning from the life of a wrestler to teach
dance classes like some of the other former cheerleaders I know. Also
at the show will be the usual blend of Playboy Bunnies, obscure DJs,
models padding their resumes, Penny Arcade ass kissers, sugar-high "New
Journalists," random celebrities (Gah! Not Paris Hilton AGAIN!), Evel
Knievel, and stuff. Oh! WildTangent is debuting a new MMORPG, it
will infest your computer and make you believe you are having fun while
they sell your personal data to the local Cialis Pimps. Ah, the hate
flows deep! - - |
April 22/2005 - There She Goes
QOTU: "So the creatures know don't they?" Well, another quick and dirty news post! A brand new SSU for the people! - - |
April 20, 21/2005 - Circle of Error
QOTU: "Touching people while they sleep is a good hobby." A lot of news for the people! Lemme arrange it into odd one sentence snippets.
The DS outsold the PSP again in Japan according to Media Create in the week of April 4 to 10, 2005.
Nintendo announced an Electric Blue color of DS for sale in June in the USA.
Telegames Ultimate Brain Games and Ultimate Card Games are both ONLINE on the Nintendo DS.
EA announced The Sims 2 for GBA, DS, and that other portable.
Treasure is working on Gaurdian Super Heros, a new GBA game in the Gaurdian Heroes series.
Konami will call the DS Castlevania: "Dawn of Sorrow."
The Nintendo DS has sold almost 2 million units in the USA alone.
The Nintendo DS has sold almost 5 million units worldwide.
The PSP has sold almost 1.5 million units worldwide.
This is long and boring and I am sleepy.
Good night! - - |
