Chuck E. Cheese Announces New Hashtag Discussion initiative.

04/01/2015
IRVING, Texas, April 1st, 2015 - Chuck E. Cheese, Rolling Stone, and the LGBTQ Foundation are proud to announce a collaboration effort to get people talking about one of the greatest issues facing schools today.

"My sons are some of the most important people in my life and I am blessed to share my time on Earth with my wife, Wendy, and my three sons: Jason, Matt, and Nick. Being a good parent, maybe being a good human being, is learning to tackle difficult discussions with your children. These may be discussions about death, drugs, divorce, racism, bullying, and many other difficult concepts. We want to create an environment in which 'a kid can be a kid,' but it was [Fred G.] Gosman who said that 'The more we shelter children from every disappointment, the more devastating future disappointments will be' and there are fewer disappointments than Rape Culture."
- Michael Magusiak, the current CEO of Chuck E. Cheese parent company CEC Entertainment.

Chuck E. Cheese has joined up with Rolling Stone, the premier expert on this issue, and with Mr. Paul Bernardo of The LGBTQ Foundation to raise awareness of this problem and is pleased to announce a new hashtag campaign called #RAPETOGETHER. The new hashtag that will be written in bold letters on the sides of every Pizza Box and on banners inside of our more than 570 locations in the United States. The staff will be trained to actively encourage parents to discuss the problem of sexual assault and rape, together, with their children. There will be a new video with Chuck E. and Mr. Munch that will feature the return of Foxy Colleen and Harmony Howlette to sing a song called "Knowing a No" about why it is important not to rape. This video will also be available for purchase for $39.99 MSRP on Blu Ray and DVD with extensive Guardian's Notes that will be accessible via your personal computer.

"Rolling Stone has booked many celebrities to record special messages about the importance of not raping that will be played at random intervals on the many TV screens at Chuck E. Cheese. These Public Service Announcements will also be made available online for discussion between parents and children. The announced celebrities include Former President Bill Clinton, Cameron Thor, Kobe Bryant, George Takei, Vani Hari, Bill Nye, and Ellen Page. We [Rolling Stone] may add more celebrities to the roster in the future, but we are very happy to have so many qualified spokespersons available to help children better understand the importance of why it is bad to rape."
- Karla Homolka, the newest Public Relations Manager with Rolling Stone.

"Many of the concerns are that this will not be sensitive enough for the very young and I empathetically deny that allegation. LGBTQ stands for 'Lessening Guilt By Tendering Questions' and we believe that an honest, explicit, conversation on the nature of consent is important. Over 9 Billion people could be raped at any second of any day. Sexual assault can be anything from an uncomfortable glance to inappropriate flatulence to unwanted kisses to drugging at least three young girls and videotaping them being raped, tortured, and brutally murdered. It is extremely important that we inform the young about giving proper consent."
- Paul Bernardo of The LGBTQ Foundation.

The campaign also features a fun calendar coupon that parents can print out to help their children. A copy of the coupon is attached to this release for distribution.

EDITOR'S HYPERBOLE NOTE: Because Chuck E. Cheese is important to video game history, we are covering this press release. There has already been some backlash against the hashtag in the media and on Twitter already. Oddishly, these are some of the choice criticisms.

"This [explicitive] on everything we are trying to do. It trivializes a serious issue with [explicitive] puppets to sell Gluten-Free Pizza & Churros."
- Sonya Barnett, one of the founders of SlutWalk on Twitter.

"It's a damn shame that we can't let kids be kids, even today. Instead we have to force them to think about subjects that are going to keep [them] awake at night in terror. I can't laugh at that. They are actively raping their children with anxiety, terrible salad, and type 2 diabetes pizza. And it is the tax payers in this country who are going to pay for their therapy."
- Conservative Talk Show Host, Rush Limbaugh

I think it feels too much like the failed #RACETOGETHER campaign that Starbucks tried to run. Also, it begs to the question of this reporter: "Is a discussion about rape around a pizza appropriate or just obnoxious?" Also, April Fools. On a side note, that coupon.. would actually work at Chuck E. Cheese.. but.. please.. DON'T USE IT. - Philip Wesley (Main Editor)
