Preface:

Every peripheral designer in the world is busy cranking out dozens of different colors of faceplate for the GBC so that people can customize the look of their GBC.  I say, why bother with a faceplate, when you can replace the entire case!  Imagine having a Silver GBC, how rare do you think that would be!  Anyways, I plan on ordering one in short order (bad pun), and will review the installation procedure.
 
 

Background:

Once again, this is a grey-market addition you can order from any number of HK importers.  I have other replacement cases for my consoles (I have a clear Playstation and a clear-blue Dreamcast at home), and I think that a silver GBC would make a good addition.  Once again, if you don't think you could disassemble your GBC with instructions and tools, you'll probably have a hard time with this.  Anywho, a replacement shell is more than a faceplate, it's a complete body, available in different colors than are available in North America or Japan.
 

What's in the box:

A replacement case of the specified color, with all the necessary tools (including the 3-prong screwdriver) and a manual.
 

Quality of design/components:

HK cases work really well, and I've installed three of them without problems before.  The shell is made of ABS plastic just like the original.
 

Ease of use:

Depends on your skill level, but if you can use a screwdriver and a manual, you're set.
 

Features:

It's a replacement shell for your GBC, it won't buff your car or tone your lower back muscles.
 

The last word:

If you need a custom GBC, this is the best way to do it.  Very few online importers carry these, so look carefully!  Be careful when using online importers- check with the Better Business Bureau BEFORE you send them your money!
