First.. an apology! Sorry for not having game impressions up sooner; but.. lemme see... there was no time as I went to the Sony Party. ^_^ They had Outkast, Electric Skychurch, Ozomatali, and a bunch of other people. Also, freaky people in makeup as well as food, loud techno music, and more food. It was interesting and I got a free bag and hat out of it. SO, Philip gots a brand new bag. Here's impressions! Donkey Kong Plus: It works with the Game Cube for God Knows What Reason.. well.. actually.. I know what reason. For editing levels and such. It's a graphic upgrade of Donkey Kong 1994. All the moves work and it looks better than ever. Oddly enough.. it's got a Rare logo on the sign for it. So, who knows... maybe they aren't going third Party? Not that it matters as it's their name on something that was originally from Hal if I remember correctly. It has 100+ levels according to the signs. Oh, I can't wait to see how the last boss looks in this upgrade. For those who didn't play DK94. The last boss is a giant version of Donkey Kong and you must jump on his fists and pick up barrels to throw at him. The old backflip and handstand moves are still there. It's nice to see it again. It's the first of MANY ports that I was happy to see. Here's the ports.. so many ports.. so little time. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the (FREAKING) Past: What can I say that can adequately describe the euphoria of playing this game on a portable. I mean, I beat this game without dying or saving so I could get a perfect game. I can't wait to see if they'll add anything to it. So far, the demo goes quite a way into the game. However, I had other games to play. But, that didn't stop me from testing my beloved game. I went up to a little past the sewers before leaving. Because I know.. I would be there all day if I had the time and I didn't have the time. It's pixel perfect and the rain is there. Even the "Zelda is your...." is there, the rats are there, pushing soliders off is there. The damn bees in the grass are there. There's even a multi-player game attached to the port of Link to the Past. It's the Four Swords multi-player bit. It's simpler in graphic style; but.. it looks like it has only one cart for multi capabilities. The soliders and text is all intact with the port of Link to the Past. Also................ the music.. appears to be ported over perfectly. Nights: Nights is available as a download from Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2. Also included is what appears to be Tiny Chao Garden (Also attached to Sonic) and Puyo Pop. (Which is also available seperately.) So, it stands to reason that Nights will also be available seperately in the future. It's a wonderful port and it controls the way I remember it. The XBox PSO may have voice chat.. but it doesn't have the three extra classes, and it doesn't have NIGHTS. It doesn't have NIGHTS. Suck it down Bill. NO NIGHTS FOR YOU! Yu Suzuki Pak: Now, once I mention these, someone will need to pick up what is left of Brian C off the ground. ^_~ THQ had this in their promo book. One cartridge.. with... AFTERBURNER OUT RUN SPACE HARRIER SUPER HANG ON It wasn't playable and sadly, the bonus game Shen Mue is not included. Oh, well. From THQ, it appears that Digital Eclipse is being hired for this one as well as the next reason to own a GBA... PHANTASY STAR COLLECTION: PHANTASY STAR 1, 2, and the beleagured 3 on ONE cartridge. All other systems must bend to the will of the GBA. And I must say that I kind of disagree with the GBA being a tougher market for profits these days. Just give good things and they will sell, dear companies. Yes, I'm talking directly to you Mr. Victor. ^_^ Please note that.. there was a really nice little game in Kentia Hall from Digital Dreams that deserves to be published here and it's mostly English already. But before that.. Phantasy Star Collection is actually improved graphically, just slightly, over the original Master System and Genesis games. The nice people at THQ. (Yes, I liked THQ this year.) They gave me the heads up on PS4.. it deserves it's own cartridge.. and.. it's getting it. Can I get a shout out up in here? Penning: One of the best platform games at E3 was this little darling. Due out in the Fall in Japan. This gorgeous little game stars a rotund penguin who turns his enemies into blocks or kills them in an effort to get through the non-linear levels of his world and save it from destruction. Of course. The little FMV and "anime" cut-scenes were splendid and the animation was rather great with lots of moving background planes and the gameplay featured many little puzzles and secrets to find. Penning can also roll into a ball and launch himself into enemies and such. Cute looking character. Music that ranges from bubblegum techno to happy Kirby music.. combined with a lovable mascot character equals a game I must import and it's mostly English. Yoshi's Island. This is an exact port ala Super Mario World and it also has Mario Bros. attached to it as well. While, I liked this game.. my little sister.. LOVES this game. The game may be an exact port.. but that's okay! It was fun the first time and I can't wait to battle HUGE BABY BOWSER in a portable way. Sega Smash Pack: Golden Axe sounds a little tinny but the game ain't done yet. SOnic looks good and plays the same as before. (Sonic Spinball.. I mean..) It sounds the same as well. Ecco is.. pretty much perfect for right now. It needs some slight sound work; but it should turn out okay. Too bad they don't put more stuff on this. In other words. Sega.. Shining Force. Give. Star Wars: Episode 2 Attack of the Clones is a clone itself. It reminds me a bit of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for the Game Boy. So, Darth Later (Anakin) is our Teenage Whining Ninja Jedi. Sadly, the levels aren't broken up with that WONDERFUL *sarcasm* Hills are Alive Romance Scene. And nosa Jar Jar Binks for you to kill. ~_~ The best part though was hitting beams back at the little Mouser Bot things. Pinball of the Dead. That old Turbo Express Game... Devil's Crush.. has been crushed. So, it's fun, and just odd enough to find it's way into my GBA. I liked it. I also liked... Silent Scope. Odd enough, this sniping game is sweet if you liked the original game. Faithful down to the girl dressing in the window... this game makes me think of the sniping in Bionic Commando and Metal Gear Solid for the PSX. Pass the Diazapan. Nice graphics, and nailing a headshot on a terrorist makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Scooby Doo: Legend of Zelda clone without Zelda and without purpose. What should have been done here.. was something similar to the EXCELLENT Monkey Island Clone that is the GBC game. I mean, it could have looked like Broken Sword. I mean.. YEAH. Oh, well. reminds me of the GBC Episode One Jedi Power Battles game. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron: Search for the Homeland: This is an interesting as it's a nice little semi-rpg thing with horses. ^_^ Yay! Hey Arnold!: The Movie: Umm.. it's an uninnovative platform game. Oh, well. What were you expecting? Power Rangers Wild Force, The Ripping Friends, and of course Jimmy Neutron...... umm... well.. yeah.. you know.. umm.. genericalness all around. GT2: Rally racing. It's GT Advance,, with more cars and... a BATTERY SAVE. Can you tell me what race car game Philip is buying? ^_^ Matchbox: Cross Town Heroes: Interesting little thing and it has monkies. Mildly entertaining driving. Hot Wheels: Velocity: This is RC Pro AM on crack. Very nice looking. Star Wars: The New Droid Army: It's that Jedi Power Battles with smaller graphics thing.. the name is tenative. The Revenge of Shinobi: Looks like a port almost.. didn't get to play it on the floor at E3; but.. oh, well.. it's Shinobi by Sega... what else can you say? It's gonna be pretty cool. Altered Beast - Gaurdian of the Realms: Brand new Altered Beast game. New types to become.. and well... I was impressed. I can truly dig-afy it! WWF: Road to Wrestlemania X8: Heh.. Fire Pro Wrestling 2 will own this game.. so why bother? Virtua Tennis: Feels like Mario Tennis, but looks like Super Tennis. I like it. Four player gameplay and it's fun too! There's Nickelodeon games for The Thornberries, Rocket Power, rugrats, and Spongeboob. (No typo.. really. :-P ) Also the Fairly Oddparents. I had no gloves, so I no touch. No germs! SUPER MONKEY BALL: It's 3-D... polygonal levels and some FANTASTIC framerates. Damn hard too in later levels. 60+ levels and MULTI-PLAYER modes. What can I say.. I mean.. it's simple and you use the control pad a bit..I just wish it was a tilt game. That would be even cooler! Maybe. I don't like having to stare and monkey butt all the time though in this game. Oh, well. Someone needs to give them pants. Monkies need pants. Mickey Mouse: Mickey's Magical Quest: Remember this on the Super Nintendo? It's here, it's the same.. and it's GREAT! Once again, Nintendo proves that ports are a good thing. Especially when it's such an old game. ^_^ Metroid Fusion: I mentioned it before and I will mention it again. IT RULES. Konami Collection 2: Castlevania + Contra: The NES games are well.. back and in most EXCELLENT form. I mean, after the phenomonal Konami Arcade Collection Advance.. this is cake.. again! I wasn't able to check for two player mode.. but we can cross our fingers and hope. Mmm... Contra. Contra Advance: This was cool back when it was Contra III and it's great now! Well, it plays the same and seems to be just a straight port. Well, sign me up. ^_^ Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance: Aside from the oxymoron name, this is pretty cool and it's lighter in graphics than Circle of the Moon. The whip is now moveable.. meaning that after you whip it out, it lays there limp until you move your control pad back and forth to make with the action. It can move in a variety of ways. You can even thrust it up to hit those hard to hit spots. It's long enough to keep the crowds at bay, while helping you level up and collect points. The main character is bishonen to the extreme. But that doesn't stop him from using his weapon to make with the pain. O_o Okay, Konami... this is a bit wrong. ^_~ When are we going to see an end to this bishonen people? Yu Gi Oh: Dragon Dice Monsters and The Immortal Duelist Soul... well.. they appear better explained this time around.. so we can only hope... Whole mess of games at E3 this year.. but I'll focus on ones I found interesting.... Shrek: He's in a game like "Rumble in the swamp or something"... it reminds me of Toki Ape Spit and plays about the same. No loogie action yet in it.. but.. let's hope! Invader: Shootery goodness from Xicat! I mean, it's good. They had their fighting game there.. but.. it's not as niceness as this shooter.. or maybe I'm just a shooter fanatic.. :-P Lilo & Stitch: Fuzzy Blue Contra. There should be more.. but.. well.. I'll probably remember them later.
